I'm not sure if I missed this in the video, but it's worth pointing out that the main reason women wanted men to stop drinking wasn't because of being like prude or chast, it was because with alcoholism comes irresponsibility and domestic violence. It wasn't that they wanted to get rid of alcohol per say, they wanted to make their communities and their homes safer and more stable and I feel like this important point is over glossed over. Even today in communities where alcoholism is rampant there are higher rates of domestic violence.

Me too, and I was planning to post that, until I saw your response. I think that the video glosses over differences of race and class under a “woman” tent. @@JenniferGonzalez-gx5qv Yes, but today, most people do not see women as things any more than they see men as things. Which is good. That's why I find this man's condescending preaching annoying. It presumes men, in general, are sexist and need to be preached to by people like him. He made no effort to qualify his statements. Imagine if he directed a similar criticism at women by declaring: "stop gold-digging and stop gossiping". He would be misrepresenting women in general while at the same time preaching to them to be more like him. He would be condemned as a sexist. But, men are an easier target for virtue signalers these days. Just say something bad about men (it can even be false or inaccurate) and you immediately get moral points in liberal circles. Maybe, he will at some point find the courage, and intellectual accuracy, to make a habit of saying positive things about men too.
@321womble5 жыл бұрын
@@sgt7 Seriously my eyes have rolled so far back into my skull I doubt they will ever return to normal. He is, you know, talking about a hundred years ago when men were overwhelmingly sexist, so I'm not sure what your point is to bring up men today. Would you like to try actually defining what 'in general' is? 20%, 40%. In general meaning all aspects of life but just portions of it. You could also define 'liberal'. What does that mean? And what is 'virtue signalling'? By the way, women can also be sexist, I think you've demonstrated that admirably.

We need to stop fighting and oppressing each other and start working as a team. Not all women want to stay at home, and not all men want to work. Communication and respect are important. The problem with the world is sexist ideologies and third wave feminists. They think the same but are in different teams. I’m glad we women have equal rights as men here in the United States.

I get so freaking tired of people crying BIAS! It's a way to dummy down the argument a person makes by someone even more biased going the other way. Here's the God's honest truth: EVERYONE IS BIASED. People have opinions. They are not just reading dry facts in a dry manner. It is impossible to make interesting content and someone not be offended by bias. To me, you're pretty thin-skinned for crying such a thing, because you're either looking solely for the bias in order to feed your need to complain, or you're so stubborn in your narrow point of view that anything conflicting with it hurts and you can't deal with it. If you don't like content, find some you do. Life's too short to be spending it in the Comments section proving how butt-hurt you can be. Or, find a video on the same topic you believe ISN'T biased, post the link, and show us all what unbiased content looks like. Otherwise, it's all just empty tears to me and most people who carry a thought or two in his head. And yes, I said HIS, which may seem paternal in some eyes, in which I have a bias that is pro-male, and if I'm pro-male, I must automatically be anti-female, in which, by using this one word, I must inherently want to rob women of the right to vote, take away their right to determine the fate of their own bodies, and push them in the kitchen to get me a damn beer. Great presentation as always... Tahirih ("Pure One") was a poetess & Baha'i Faith martyr. Her last words just before her strangulation in 1852 were: “You can kill me as soon as you like, but you will never stop the emancipation of women.” (Táhirih called to me and asked me to go to the Chief of Police with a special request. “It seems that they wish to strangle me,” she said. “Long ago, I set aside a silk handkerchief which I hoped would be used for this purpose. I deliver it into your hands and I want you to ask that drunkard to use it for the purpose of taking my life.”)

The fight for the rights of women was and still is an ongoing global revolution, not just in the USA. In the World History Series, I thought that there would be some segment compilation of our own rights being fought for and realized as well as our contributions too in some nations as far. Women had helped shaped history too.

There are some places in this world where women get almost no privileges at all, based on some religious and long-time traditional society thinking. There may be some who become self-entitles in which they take their privileges for granted but should that mean that every one of them have to be then denied their own chances of opportunities? I know that men have their own set of struggles, as do women. We all, as humans, should be at this point of our own modern development trying to see what people can be capable of regardless of gender. There have been many case studies now where this fact is tried and true.
@CrystaliumJMC8 жыл бұрын
That's the same way of saying that men need to remain in the home too to make intercourse with us! We can't make babies on our own; it takes both halves to make a whole, correct? It's not like the human race is in danger of extinction any time soon. There are more ways than before nowadays that both genders can take care of their home lives and make a living in the outside world at the same time. This video shows many examples that women can find ways to help bring extra income to a household without shirking their responsibilities at home. When we don't have any more chores left to take care of for the day, what do you expect us to do with ourselves? Even men have house chores to do and can do them as well as keep a job, why can't women as well? Some households would need both adults/parents to work to support it together. Do you want to be viewed that your only value comes down to just your reproduction organs, rather than the skill sets you've learnt and develop to contribute to your community? Have you tried to think about it yourself? Our bodies might not built for physical strength like men, but we do have our own kind of strength, like planning, multi-tasking, endurance. I'm not a mother yet, I wouldn't know all the physical and emotional challenges that comes with carrying an inborn to raising one along a husband. I'm currently a single woman, more focused on supporting herself rather than to just leave it all up to a man to carry my own weight for me. Any man that doesn't want to accept the versatility that women have, can just as well as be restricting their own potentials too.
@selsuru8 жыл бұрын
CrystaliumJMC That breaks the dynamic between the sexes, men are the provider/protector and women are the baby/home maker. The demographic winter in all industrialized nations is proof of this. Human civilization can only function under patriarchy and once this civilization goes belly up like past cultures that let women out of the home patriarchy will return. Also women suck at planing, multitasking and have less endurance than men. Quit believing pop culture BS.
@CrystaliumJMC8 жыл бұрын
And how well do you live up to your own ideals of patriarchy? How well have you done as a provider and a protector to any woman you know or for anyone else? None of us are perfect enough to say what one gender is only capable of or shouldn't be allow to do. We had grown up as a race to be more than what have our natural roles are, what got to be what we are today is actually trying to make ourselves something better than our past generations. We're not restricted to the same roles that exist within animal hierarchies anymore. We are never going to stop changing from what we were from before, even if this "pop culture BS" as you call it is what's influencing this. You have some really sour opinions about what a woman has to be but that's within your own rights to think. Maybe women in your life were real cunts to you or fallible to what they claim about themselves. I imagine you would have the heart within you to still have some respect for them as you would like to be given yourself as a man. While you seem to think with us working towards being more than baby makers is wrong, at least many of us both men and women ARE giving it a chance or a second chance and ARE trying to make this new dynamic work out through all the challenges that may come. And IF it does end up biting us in the rear, we'll keep on trying to make it work; quitting and going right back to before doesn't guarantee improvement in relationships. We're going to both be together as long as humanity exist most likely unless our evolution takes an asexual turn in our reproduction cycle. We should all be capable of making the effort to improve who we are for each other.

What is a bagger or a facer? And what is a slot canyon? And lastly, why does carrying a 30 pound backpack through such a slot canyon matter? Also, I know i said that last question was the last question, but why does that backpack feat matter? That doesn't show much because that backpack weighs mainly on your back and shoulders, not something like biceps or triceps.

Question: I was told (somewhere) that prior to Womens Suffereage they didn't pay taxes, thus government eventually supported the Sufferage movement under the notion that for the first time women would have to pay taxes as equal as men had. True?
@raizumichin10 жыл бұрын
Not directly. Women weren't except from any taxes, but since most of them didn't work they didn't have pay any income tax and their husbands salaries went to buying things and paying mortgages (and thus generating property taxes and VAT).

Does anyone want to talk about John's historical fallacy known as Hindsight Bias? I mean, he doesn't even make the attempt to view events through the perspective of those in that time period. Or, we could talk about the fact that a man is three times more likely to end his own life in the United States than a woman is. __________________________________________________________________ Let's look at this through a reasonable lens. Imagine that you were in a moderately sized tribe of early humans, one that was at war with another moderately sized tribe of similar humans. What would be more significant to the continuation of your tribe, the loss of two thirds your men, or two thirds your women? The short answer, two thirds the women. Losing the men is an acceptable loss, as one man could theoretically impregnate every woman. Whereas, losing two thirds the women means losing two thirds the pregnancies. Thus, a simple evolutionary answer to why men seek to protect women. Women are simply more important to the continuation of the species than we are. It's not misogyny, and it's not the patriarchy, though some might argue that this system is actually very matriarchal. The same can be applied to everyone's favorite topic of discussion, *conscription*! Here in the U.S, the number of women in the armed forces is vastly disproportionate to the number of men. Why? Well aside from fundamental physical differences, yes believe it or not, men and women differ biologically, the "Women are too Important" argument is the most obvious answer. Here's one that's always a good idea to bring up. By "good idea", I really just mean that someone is going to be upset. The Wage Gap isn't actually a wage gap. It's an annual salary difference, and one originating from the fact that men and women just don't enjoy doing the same things. The actual Wage Gap, a

I think you brushed over the hunger strikes a bit too fast... They weren't just going on a hunger strike for suffrage or just because. They did it because their conditions were appalling. They didn't need to be force fed. The prison officials could have tried to improve conditions (the women were beaten and assaulted). Sure, you're in prison for breaking the law, but you are still a human being. Also, they were force fed raw eggs and milk....
