My favourite is from the Seoul Olympics. It was the women's 500m speed skating competition. Lee Sang Hwa from South Korea was going after her 3rd gold medal and was edged out by Nao Kodaira of Japan. During the celebratory skate around Lee was crying and Nao came to her and hugged her and they skated together. I later found out they were good friends. It was a beautiful example of how rivals can be friends.

They couldn't have spent a bit more effort in cleaning that pool? It looks like a lake!
@jasminejohnston63934 жыл бұрын
Well they can’t just put chlorine in the pool because chlorine stings the divers’ eyes and that’s dangerous because they need to be able to see where they’re swimming in order to get out of the pool. Besides, you can partially blame the design of the venue too. This is why Olympic pools shouldn’t be in outdoor venues...
@funnybunnnies4 жыл бұрын
@@jasminejohnston6393 true but there also have been international diving pools that is still the same as the indoor ones Example: Seen per Tom Daley vlogs where he went for international competition... Outdoor diving... And still clear as day unlike this one

Apparently the pool _was_ chlorinated, but then a contractor dumped a bunch of hydrogen peroxide in there to clean it. This neutralized the chlorine and allowed algae to bloom.
