Djibouti is a country that barely can afford clean water or food. She is probably the best player there. She got a chance to represent her nation and she was very proud of doing it. At the opening ceremonies and even attending the closing, Hassan Farrah was all smiles. She made it to the Olympics, something you won't do. She was happy. Obviously she wasn't the best. She had a good time and was proud to be a Djibouti athlete. Give her respect.

Women need empowerment in these Islamic countries. Too often they are seen to be good mothers and help raise the kids and satisfy their husbands. Things need to change. I'm sure there are many talented muslim women who's talents are nowhere to be seen due to religious culture. I'd love to see things change...i doubt it'll ever happen because personally I don't think women in the Muslim world are prepared to do what the feminists of old did in the west. However if that day ever comes I as a man will happily salute them on. This poor girl was humiliated. Things need to change

Starlin Abdi - I agree - this is what the Olympics is about. We should be questioning the "Brazilian" athlete - where is she from (I'm guessing somewhere in Asia, and she is not good enough to make their team) ? Do they have no table tennis players in Brazil ? I support one or two young female Somali students in my main job and I wish them every success. It is great to see.

She's not that bad, just way outclassed by world class players. If you've never played at that level it's very hard to adjust to the serves. Then you try to get your serves perfect so they don't get attacked and hit half of yours into the net. She can play though, when the Brazilian player eases up on her serves at the end she can legit attack them and score some points. I'm sure she can beat most commenters on this video :)

yes but she's the #120 woman in the world. by comparison, if you're in the US the top women in the country are around that world ranking, and the top women in the US are only a bit off the top men. these players could make a solid club level player look foolish, and your average club player is way way ahead of your average basement player, which is where i'm assuming most of these people that think they can beat her are.

On a way representing your country, in the other the mediatic stake . We have to remember that in many countries of East Africa, for people especially women, life is quite hard. Even in France, lot of people don't consider TT as a sport. Most of time, they have not much money for their effort. Hassan Farah isn't bad, but she clearly isn't at the Olympic level. There are many conditions or variables unknown, but you cannot attribute her failed serves and many times not even attempting to return the ball as results of her country's poverty. Perhaps she has the potential to do better, but at the moment, it's not fair for her to be forced to compete at such a competitive level against players who have trained at very early ages. She is brave for willing to represent her country, but watching this; it seems like it's an embarrassment both to Hassan Farah herself and to her opponents.

So many derogatory comments towards Yasmin. Djibouti obviously doesn't have the resources and funding to put towards sport like other countries, such as Brazil, so of course Yasmin is going to struggle against competitors with such advantages. Something suspicious is going on, as the Djiboutian athlete got in by Invitation. They had 69 athletes qualified and needed a 70th somewhere, but surely there are better athletes than her? No disrespect, but she doesn't seem nearly as skilled, only getting 8 points in the whole match off an athlete who lost in straight games in the next round.

dude we Arabs don't care a lot about Olympics except maybe for Egypt and Algeria and table tennis isn't really famous here I bet table tennis is only her hobby or something

I know this however, it seems like there must be someone better than her in the world.

I proud of Yasmin coming from a Small country and representing it to Olympics. She couldn't deliver her best.

7:17 judge probably asked her if she wants to throw in the towels, because clearly she was at the wrong tournament.
