Some of the most elite jobs in the military could be open to women by 2016. We asked 7 women to take the same fitness standards test that SEAL candidates must go through.

You know what is missing here, that is very vital. "Pressure" It's not just about physical endurance and how many push ups you can do. Those guys thats going to train you, is going to put massive pressure on you, those guys are not going to be nice and polite about it.

no, this is great guys. You should always let your enemies know that you're systematically weakening your own army.

I'm about as feminista as they come, liberal, chai-drinking intellectual. But I know women should not be allowed to be operators. All combat units, even Special Operations, were opened to women because they know women can't make the cut physically and physiologically. We don't weigh enough to ruck 100lbs for hours and days. 100lbs is close to full bodyweight for most women, so the standard SOF/SEAL kit is impossible for us to carry for long periods of time and in rough terrain.Physiologically, we don't have the endurance or the strength to do the job that SOF guys do. Then there is the very important side of this where a woman would mix up team dynamics in such a small, tight-knit team of guys. And if your buddy gets shot in the face, you keep going and he takes care of himself. If a woman gets shot in the face, a good man can't help himself and he's going to want to help her. If I'm in Earth's A**hole as a hostage, do I want a woman carrying me around trying to extract me? No. I want a man and his brothers who can carry me at 100lbs at a dead run in rough terrain like it's a walk in the park as they think about what they ate for dinner. Yes, it is about attitude. Do I want your angel in hell to be solid as a steel wall emotionally and mentally? Yes, absolutely. I don't care how tough she is, a woman can't give off that utterly rock-solid sensation because we aren't socialized this way, we do not think like that, we haven't embodied it in all parts of our lives from regular conversations to buying a soda at the grocery store. SOF is a niche for men for very, very good reasons. It always will be, unless for some reason they make an all-female squadron for very specific purposes.

Navy SEALs have to do sidestroke, 15 pull-ups, the run is in pants and boots, push-ups and sit-ups are 80 in 2 minutes. That's just the PST, not even BUD/S
@keepiticy9 жыл бұрын
+A Mud yea i thought i was the only one who knew that...plus that's the minimum...they only let a certain ammount in every year and im sure more people are going to blow the minimum away..i mean a guy ran a 1.5 run in 5:21...if you aim for the minimum you most likely won't make it
@davidhuntt35179 жыл бұрын
A Mud I was CAV no where near SEAL and one of the weaker guys in my squad (fastest but weakest) I was still doing 80 pushups and over 100 situps. These chicks couldn't even make it in a CAV/Infanty unit much less SEAL.
@RavishingSailor9 жыл бұрын
+keepiticy LOL.. Damn bud where did you get your info. 5:21 for 1.5 miles. LMFAO. so basically the dude went through the mile mark (with ACU's and combat boots) and broke the mile world record and still had another 800 meters to run.. Every one has to keep in mind that the basic BUD/S PFT marks are for enlisted men only and hitting the min scores WILL NOT GET YOU A SPOT. For an officer the quals are 500yard swim in less then 7:30 (side stroke or breast stroke), 10 mins rest. 100 push ups in 2 mins followed by 2 mins rest. 200 sit ups with hands locked behind the head and elbows touching the ground on return within 2 mins. Then you basically need to hit at least 30 dead hang pull ups with no time limit. Followed by the 1.5 mile run in trousers and boots with in less then 8 mins. You need to hit those standards before you can ever think about getting a letter of recommendation from a senior SEAL officer, which will then get you your billet/ orders into BUD/S.

+Jtadpoll1978 If anyone has the capability to pull those numbers they're garunteed a spot not considering health and intelligence. Also, the test requires hands on your collarbone bone and elbows tucked in, not your head. Also trousers and boots just depends on who is hosting the test.

competitive standards (1) 500 yd swim in under 9:00 (2) pushups - 100 in 2:00 (3) sit-ups - 100 in 2:00 (4) pull-ups -- 20 , and (5) 1.5 mile run in 9:00.

Passing the physical readiness test is nothing to the actual combat training. Physical and emotional abuse, extreme exposure to environmental conditions, sleep deprivation and the ability to problem solve under all of these conditions, etc. I'm pretty sure that some women can handle the more rigorous training it takes to have the privilege to serve in an elite fighting force however, to use only the physical readiness test to verify the ability to do so is dishonest to say the least. Further more, women should prove themselves in less specialized combat roles like leg infantry and mechanized infantry first before being given the PRIVELEDGE to serve in more elite forces. Also, having gone through basic training and AIT on my way to the 75th Regiment I can honestly say that the push ups exhibited by the women in this video wouldn't even pass the readiness test for leg infantry. Just saying.

On my physical fitness assessment I did 96 situps in 2 min and 81 pushups in 2 min and 1.5 miles in sub ten min and I can do AT LEAST 15 pullups, HOWEVER, this does NOT mean I am ready to be a seal candidate. Doing the minimum requirements is not good enough if u ask me.
@ianjones74409 жыл бұрын
I read somewhere that the cannadites who do 100 push-ups and 100 sit-ups each under 2 minuets have something like an 80% chance of making it through buds

+Ian Jones Came from a guy named DH Xavier who said if you do that you are 80% likely to psychically make it through BUD/s. But remember it's like 90% mental

Sorry women but you are not meant for this type of thing, go back to being wonderful moms/wife and nurturing the men that sacrifice so much so that you would even have a thought of trying something like this, it's a joke and most females would not want to do this, most would rather be home with a kid shaping a life or a career that doesn't put them in harms way. It's noble of women to try this but it's not realistic.

First off, they can't even make it through Boot Camp without the standards of difficulty across the board being lowered big time. So how the hell do they think they'd have a remote chance to make it in spec. ops, much less the Navy Seals? I don't think the Navy has any intentions of lowering the standards to the extent that enables women to have a chance. If the Navy decides a different route, and creates "All Female" Seal Training, or even combining the programs, it will mean more REAL, LEGITIMATE, BAD ASS "REAL" SEALS DYING IN BATTLE! They all know that too. Real Seals will not view the ladies the same, and most definitely will not view them as "equals" because they're not & never will be. It's not gender discrimination, its a fact!
@taylormartinez4125 жыл бұрын

SWIM: 12:00 using sidestroke so none passed the swim PUSHUPS: 50 in 2 minutes but thats the minimum our guys are hitting 100+ same with sit-ups. PULL-UPS: atleast 10 but our guys are hitting 20+ the run time our guys are hitting sub 9 minutes. you don't just have to pass the minimum you have to be competitive, if you only get the minimum you won't make it.
@theghostmancometh8989 жыл бұрын
By the way, how do these old ladies even meet the requirements to enlist in the first place?
@timyang47109 жыл бұрын
what they forgot is that you must run 1 1/2 under 10 mins--IN BOOTS AND PANTS.
@Mikesullin9 жыл бұрын
The problem is that they barely hit the minimums. If you even want to go to buds you need to be getting way faster run/swim times, 100 push ups and sit ups and 20 pull ups if you really want to be considered
@Mikesullin9 жыл бұрын
***** And usually minimums don't even get into bud/s in the first place. The navy will take only them best so when they are looking for seal candidates, they will take the top two hundred (just guessing) guys. If there are two hundred guys who are more fit than you, your aren't going.
@ChangedMountain19 жыл бұрын
they hit all the standards but they were minimal they would get passed because you need to hit high standards like in pull up 10 you would get overlooked you need to hit at least in the 40's range of pull ups

Two issues, one of which has already been pointed out. First, this was only one day. Seals don't do this in a vacuum. Each of these exercises, and a whole lot more, are spread out across months.
@libertyunderlaw9 жыл бұрын
You are correct. I was apparently too brief. I meant to say that, in these videos, these things are done in a vacuum. It's like taking a little bit out of a day of a SEAL for example and saying, "Women did ok, see, they can be SEALs."
@andrewmorgan36459 жыл бұрын
That's disrespectful to the Seal community to compare their scores to seals when they are going off Rescue swimmer standards and the bare minimum Seal qualifications which nobody gets in with to get into Buds you need Sub 9 combat side stroke NOT FREESTYLE 500 meters 100+ push ups 100+ sit ups 20+ pull ups Sub 9 mile 1/2 And rescue swim school is a cake walk compared to Buds

Did anyone watch the video or did you all go straight to the comment section after reading the title? The point was to show that even women who are well over the age limit can do the bare minimum. They're not saying that bare minimum is enough, they're saying if these 30-40 year old women can do it, then a woman in her 20s could do even better, just as well as the men. There are women out there who are very capable of adhering to these standards and it's great that the military is now giving them that opportunity instead of pushing them to the side because they have vaginas.
@ChamorruWarrior9 жыл бұрын
This is just the PAST test to even get into the training. Those minimums are double by any of the men that are even considered. Idk about Navy Seals, but Air Force Pararescue has pretty much the same PAST test and that school has a like 8% success rate of the MEN that try out. There are no women in the world that can keep up with the top 8% most physically elite men our society has to offer. Having women join these teams is just attaching a liability to a special forces team, it will get good men killed all for the sake of fairness... Are you freaking kidding me. War is not fair, you don't have to go back to the kitchen, but you don't get to be pararescue or navy seals until you can prove women are physically equal to men in the Olympics where men won't die if you fail.
@babyarry110 жыл бұрын
Almost every single one of these women are too old already. It'd be even better if they had younger women.
@SteamAirsoft7 жыл бұрын
that is minimal requirements you will most likely NOT even get a SEAL contract its a competitive challenge i would recommend getting 15-20 pull ups then 80-100 push ups / sit ups in 2mins even then women would have to complete hell week and swimming with sharks carrying 60-100+ pounds of weapons and explosives up to 20+miles on ruff environments and SEALs always train they never stop training IT DOES NOT GET ANY EASY. "ONLY EASY DAY WAS YESTERDAY"
@zacksrandomvlogs4 жыл бұрын
Isn't this basic requirements just to get in ? And then you have be trained the training is what killer I believe not the basic requirements to enter .
@richystar20016 жыл бұрын
Wow 10 pullups? They are really slacked on requirements these days.. . If you are not built like She- Hulk then don't bother to try being a seal. Full amphibious pack air tank ammo rifle pack and armor plus frog suit. You are pulling 225lbs out of the surf onto wet sand possibly being shot at at night. If you can't get off the beach you are dead. A 140lb woman can't muster the strength to do that so unless you want women drowning in the surf then sure.
@thegoat55874 жыл бұрын
The training and skills of the navy seals should be the same .. i mean women always have a lower PST compared to men .. and they get the same job .. i have zero problem with women as fighters but they should be able to be as competent as a male !

They do know that the guys who actually pass BUD/S blow the minimums away, right?
@PDizzleFoRizzle6 жыл бұрын
wow, so much is wrong here! 1) Unfair to the ladies because of their age (30's and even 40's!!) and time allowed for them to prepare(a few weeks). BUDS candidates usually train for years before their class and are mostly in their 20's. So this selection of females isn't representative of potential female BUDS candidates. on the other end... 2) The PST is only the BARE minimum for BUDS. If you have ANY trouble with it AT ALL you probably won't get a contract. Even if you do, you won't make it past indoc, let alone by breakfast on day 1 of phase 1. Remember, BUDS and STT are 90% mental but that last 10%, which is physical, is still a thing. Try putting on 80lbs of gear and running 9 miles while taking turns carrying another trainee. Good luck!
