I can attest to the truth of this through my own experience- IBS symptoms dissapeared within days of : 1) starting with kefir as first meal 2) re-setting eating patterns - no food after 8 pm/before 12 pm 3) re-setting my sleep schedule- bed by 9.30-10 pm, up at 5.30 am. The sleep is crucial, as I noticed immediately that my appetite dramatically decreased. It’s not always possible to do it every day due to my job (demands I’m active sometimes early on, so need to eat a bit), but as a pattern, it’s great. No guy problems anymore, mood much much perkier and tons more energy. ❤

I’m a man & was probably the happiest man on earth but 6 months after my surgery, I’m having severe depression. Never had it before. I know my gut has changed. I Never had constipation my entire life but now I’m a totally different person. I’m crying almost daily

Firstly, I just found you on youtube and you are a *beast* Lisa. I cannot tell you how motivated I am to make changes in my day to day after watching your interviews - and I’m a motivated person! Thank you, truly for your straightforward, no BS style and curiosity. Also, Amy Shah was fantastic. I eat really well, but never realized the connection between what I ate and when I ate certain types of food and mood. It is a revelation hearing I can manage my moods by strategizing when and what I put in my body. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

You’ll feel great lowering sugars and carbs. You’ll become insulin Resistant. Insulin is a hormone. Grelin is hormone of satiety. Melatonin is hormone or day/night cycle. Sex hormones, Stress hormone- adrenalin and cortisol. General immune system, social(support) circle of people. Being loved and expressing love, being curious and excited about world, being true to yourself, if one is out of balance, got to take care of it. Welcome Home❤

VERY insightful and confirms my own experience with this very issue. Realized that I was suppressing ish and eating my emotions, i.e., coping with negative feelings/emotions that seemed to come from nowhere. Though I do know that I suffer from seasonal depression disorder and PTSD, I'd been doing the beautiful, heart wrenching work of healing. Then when noticing I was gaining weight and dealing with constipation, hormones outta control, night sweats and hot flashes, I knew it was in part due to what this entire discussion is highlighting. Thanks so much for covering this topic! Badass 💓👍🏾!

It took me over 20 years to realize my hormones were off and causing me lupus and all kinds of autoimmune conditions because low progesterone is what actually causes all of these autoimmune diseases and constant mood swings! And she's right on all disease starts in the gut our ancestors knew this but they walked barefoot in the ground and picked up a lot of probiotics also from gardening! The best thing for the gut since I have had constant gastrointestinal issues for over 20 years I have found sauerkraut be the best, nutritional yeast(b vitamins),kombucha!

I'm grateful that she has shared that experience. I'm in a similar situation now. I workout everyday after work. Then when I go to the common room I'll be seeing my 6 months old waiting for me to come and play with him. I feel bad for him. Because he has been waiting for me the whole day and now he has to wait for more. Even once a person told me that as mothers we are not supposed to be taking care of overself Watching this was so liberating. Thank you.

I am disabled from a car accident and a doctor that messed with me .I was very diabetic and now my A1C is 5.6. I am vegan and have a heart stint and getting ready for a hernia operation I use to be almost 300 lbs. I have lost over a hundred pounds. I have a broken foot that will be repaired after the hernia.

I love this podcast! Ladies, please can we focus on the message and not on what this lady is wearing. She is allowed to wear what she wants. It's a sad day when women are criticising other women on a podcast that is about female empowerment. #be kind ❤

Love the episode! Thank you, Lisa and Amy! It is helpful to anticipate a certain feeling and know how to act then. However, I don't think many people eat ice-cream because they are hungry lol It reminds me of a story of when Oprah was at a furniture store and was deliberating whether she "needed" the vanity, and the salesperson said no one buys a vanity because they "need" it 😅 I was wondering, Lisa, as an interviewer, do you choose to skip over such things not to cause negative feelings for the interviewee, or would you consider an example such as this one insignificant? I would be curious how to deal with the craving if you know you are not hungry and you just really want whatever it is, but you would rather make a healthier choice.

About the hunger after gym- I was starving, STARVING. Even after the high protein foods, no sugars, no fast foods etc Then I listened to Dr Andy Galpin and Andrew Huberman podcast, I realized I am not drinking enough water not only for my body weight requirements, but for the weight lifting, walk and intensity work I am doing every single day. Of course I was confusing hunger with thurst. Now I have 3-4L of water every day, watching out for electrolytes as well, the hunger is gone. I literally eat normally again

sorry about the fact check, but being Costa Rican and having lived in rural areas there (CR has several types of rainforest and cloud forest depending on the area, it's not just called jungle), I want to say that everybody in rural areas have TVs and android cellphones. The only areas where you may not see that are the Indigenous Communities, which are very difficult to access. So, if that is where the guest speaker went, it would be useful to specify that because the way Costa Rica is being painted in that anecdote is somewhat misleading. It would help if she adds a timeframe to her story. I understand her point is that us Costa Ricans appreciate simple blessings of nature and community much more than Americans or Europeans, but we as a culture suffer from dopamine addiction just as much as other countries. It's just not so visible to the tourist. The tour guide might have given her a skewed perspective.

I know this will be an unpopular thought, yet how does my mind register cleavage & a bare middle with less of my attention to what the Dr. Is saying. With all due respect, I wish beautiful, educated women could start dressing more classy during public forums.

It's your own bias. Sorry. what has her appearance to do with anything other than your own judgement of how a woman at any age should dress? It's women who love to criticise each other then complain the world judge us.

Looks like powerfull women has way more psychological and health issues than not-powerfull ones, who just found a good partner and created a healthy relationships. Unfortunately, statics shows the more educated, the more achieved woman is - the more chances to be divorced and unhappy in relationships. Some exclusions here and there don't change the common trend. So, how to resolve that? Are there a good solution? What is the good balance?
