"The history that could be told" is such an amazing way to put it. I do love old-time slashers myself, they're fun in their own way, but considering how much movies, comics and the game (novels too probably, but I haven't gotten around them yet) have given us, story-wise, there's just so much potential to me for telling an incredible story while touching on multiple important subjects at once. I'm not saying literally everyone has to do it, but with everything I've seen with interpretations of Jason and Pamela, it always feels like many have a gem on their hands and do absolutely nothing with it. I do hope they'll get around making the show too, tthough it's a shame that Fuller left.

I hope they figure it out! It sounds like they have cold feet on telling Pamela's story, which needs to be told. Their is so much to tell still. I am speculating, though. Great conversation! Cheers! Vinnie and James!

I believe I heard you on a podcast with an amazing idea entailing Pamela and her relationship with the Christie's. I don't understand why they don't give you the reins,you would do an amazing job!!

I personally want to see, a collaboration between Womp Stomp Films and Real Fiction Studios for a Camp Crystal Lake fan series. And I totally agree with Vince's theory about the camp being cursed and weird things were already happening before Jason & Pamela.

Cobra Kai and Chucky are good examples of bringing back classics, not losing the nostalgia and keeping it fresh. I think the show needs to play off 1-9, bring back old faces, intertwine their worlds, add new characters and tell stories that were never properly finished, including Pamela's. And obviously keep Jason as the killing machine star, but develop his story as well.

Yeah at this point with F13th I have more belief in the fans than anyone who has the rights at the studios Also re Jason’s back story, did he survive the drowning and grow up in the woods? or is he a revenant?. Well in Part 2, they do give you the former reason as a possible explanation by way of Ginny in the bar scene.

The explanation is shaky, but its there. Everything around Jason is speculation at that point in time too. The series just never puts a bow on the direction.

You should make a more realistic Friday the 13th...with a real and human Jason...grown up in the lush forest...a subnormal and deformed Jason who runs like any of us and who suffers from blows (third and fourth parts) ...but he can be as fast as you and me. That's really scary because it can exist. And not a zombie immune to police or military calibers and who walks like a Terminator. How pathetic and bad are absolutely all the official parts from the fifth onwards 🤷🏻

We are actually working on a "human ghost" version of our design. It's pretty rad. Just needs more work.

Thanks to you both. I completely agree, there is so much content that is yet to be told and as James put it, it’s the lore that intrigues and excites me and the many possibilities that await the right team! I hope we don’t have to wait another 15 years! So so sad

Now's your chance, Vince. Make some phone calls, pull some strings, call in some favors, suck some... Ya know... Whatever it takes to get a meeting with A24, and get this franchise back on track! I'll never understand people's resistance towards a show or movie that focuses on Pamela. I mean, not only did she give birth to Jason, but she gave birth to the entire franchise itself. You'd think there'd be a little more reverence for her. Not to mention, it just makes sense. There's definitely a story to tell there that has some untapped potential for the franchise. As for casting, I agree with Mia Goth if you're going younger. Rebecca Ferguson came to my mind as well. I also thought maybe Christina Ricci or Winona Ryder if you're going to go for a slightly older version of Pamela.

all due respect this was awful man, well til the end. i also do not fuqin care what davey the "myers expert" has to say about what modern audiences want... hows that workin for star woke or MsheU or rings of power? it isnt. it blows my mind how you Vin have this character on lock and want a pointless drawn out origin of whys and hows that do not add anything to the story, they dont. these arent high brow films. so we need to know why amanda kreuger became a nun? or why Charels lee ray got touched so now he kills? we dont, the more you make them something they aren't then they aren't. every fuqin time its "fleshed out" it ruins the magic. boba was cooler when we knew nothing. maul wasn't pathetic until he ended up in a kids show for that "modern audience". in close its hilarious those few and it is few that wet themselves for hollywood to do a DEI crystal lake when the people can do it themselves, hollywoke IS fuqin done, it just wont let go

I don't think developing Pamela and Jason further is woke. There is a lot of damage Pamela can do. She has many years to kill people, we can see her turn into a twisted killer and get answers about what happened to Jason. Everything you know about their tragic story adds to what they become. Everything we did in NHA was built on these principles.

I agree about not wanting a modern silly series that blames everybody except the psychopathic killers. I think we can ALL imagine just how that will go.
@WompStompFilms
@WompStompFilms 4 ай бұрын
I don't think that would be the aim of a Friday the 13th series at all. I think of Pearl as a great example of an origin story that highlights exactly what is wrong with a psychopathic killer without blaming society. It's how killers decide to react when the world doesn't bend to their will. A series about Pamela and Jason can show more of who they were before the events that lead to what the series became. As Kevin Williamson said in his recent twitter comment about the show, "A mother who unravels in her grief." Watching Pamela go from a woman teetering on the edge, to a killer is a great story that has lots of entertainment opportunities. As the series would have progressed, Jason's story echoes that of his mothers. They are a symbiotic relationship in a way. There is nothing wrong with expanding those ideas.

@@WompStompFilms No I disagree, we already know why Mrs. Voorhees murdered the councilors. We saw her unravel in 1980 and in all honesty, watching a woman come apart is for arthouse drama not for the horror / slasher genre, when that happens you end up with something like Silent Night, Deadly Night, which might have it's going points but it's pseudo psychology is now laughable. We know Jason wasn't being watched as closely as he should have been, we have all been allowed to build own our stories about his life before Summer camp. Adding more current noise to their story isn't enhancing anything, look just how awful Halloween became when they decided that Jaime was his sister, then that wasn't enough, there was now a cult controlling him, then, oh dear, Zombie. If they want to create a "deeper" story let them be original and write a new story from scratch.
