I won an iPad from one these machines in a single try back in 2016. The owners of the bar where the machine was were absolutely livid, and when I went back a few weeks later the machine was gone and it hasn't been back since.

They didn't say anything to me, but they had pissed expressions on their faces, were clearly arguing and throwing accusations at each other, opened the control panel and fiddled around with it, then they unplugged it and put an out of order sign on it. I think they believed they had the grip strength so low that it would never dispense a prize, and everything they had in there was high value. I'm assuming that after they closed that night they took all the remaining prizes out and kept them for themselves and then sold the machine.

True story. I was lucky enough to snag a Walmart pre-order when they were first available. Fast forward to delivery day, I'm home over my lunch break... I'm about to head back to work when the Fed Ex delivery truck rolls up. The delivery lady was like 6'2", she grabs my PS5, takes 2 steps from her truck and literally drops it on my sidewalk. Deep down I knew she was going to drop it. I almost yelled to her that I'd just meet her at her truck, but she was moving pretty fast. She took pics of the box and how the one corner was smashed in. She says if it's damaged you'll just be able to order another... I look at her and said, it won't be that easy. They are literally sold out. I put the system in my house, jumped in my truck and finished my day of work. Came home, hooked up my system and it worked! I can still see in my mind the moment when her hand slipped and the system plummeted to the ground from her chest height. That sinking feeling I had in my stomach. This comment brought that memory back!
