basically what she said goes to the core of nick mira's comment on producers going too crazy with 808s and that prevents them from getting placements. wondagurl is crazy dope with hi-hats, hard hitting drums and 808s, but artists for some reason feel like they can't really rap to beats that have those crazy panned 808s, slides/glides, and things of that nature. why nick and others suggest you gotta simplify your beats so the artist can have room for their vocals, thus more likely to get placements, especially with bigger name artists. if you listen to no favors by big sean, and contrast that with her instrumental Yourmomneeds2talk2u, her no favors beats is dumbed down compared to the other beat, but those are the kinds of beats that many artists often prefer over her other stuff. funny thing is, there are expections in which an artist will rock with a beat where wondagurl goes crazy. i know for sure night lovell would have no problem rocking a beat with wild ass 808s and crazy drums as hes rapped over those kinds of beats on virtually all his albums. travis, asap rocky would have no problem either. i personally love wondagurl going as crazy and as bold as possible, but i understand shes in the business of working with artists and getting placements is very important, so she got to accommodate them on the beats so they can feel comfortable to rap to the beats.
