They brought SriPraPhai from Queens (Legendary Thai spot better than most restaurants in Thailand, no joke) into Manhattan. Not the same menu as the original, but the flavors are definitely there. You can tell they took the ingredients and made their own variation of the original. For me, it is worth it for the convenience of having that general SriPraPhai quality without having to schlep it out to Queens, which would end up costing me way more time and money anyway. Smart idea. They went the extra mile to make relationships with the popular restaurants in NYC that aren't conveniently located in Manhattan to have a kind of pop up outpost for their food so that it can be delivered in the city. If they can bring Trinciti roti into Manhattan for delivery, then I'll REALLY be impressed.

Wow $700 m for a ghost kitchen

How else are they going to make it a global company?? This isn't a ghost kitchen. Like you think. It's changing the ghost kitchen idea. Most ghost kitchens now are made by restaurants that already exist.. this concept is all new restaurants and recipes...

Typical ghost kitchens serve small scale operators with their own pricing strategies and priorities. This takes a number of cuisines and restaurant types and folds them into one, giant operation. By owning the menus, production, and delivery, the idea is for economies of scale to lower the price of premium, delivered food. This sits between frozen meals and restaurants.

There was a ghost kitchen in midtown, it was good for less than a year. Multiple brands came and went. Then you started seeing the quality and service fall. It closed last year. Great on paper, horribly executed.

my guys keeps chaning his whole company mission until he strikes gold - cloud kitchens are here for a long time. he doese nothing innovating besides the fact that he himself is a master fund raiser and operator. so it might come down to him simply scaling it beyond belief and selling it and cashing out and then repeat with the next ecomerce idea

I've had it here in NYC and it is VERY close to the original restaurants. The flavors are just as good as the original restaurants but they redesign it a bit for convenience sake.
