Maybe it wasn't super-strength but simply the "momentum" created by the speed he used to carry the gorilla to safety ? I really don't think he would have been able to lift the gorilla off the ground just like that but I guess his speed enables him to lift heavy things the same way it enables him to throw ( very ) hard punches depending on his speed...
