Hades looks into a mirror after being shot by the gun. He now loves himself. Also, you didn't seem to notice that Eros looks like Jon Bon Jovi. "Shot through the heart and you're to blame." These are the best Olympians ever. Sadly, DC has not kept them. Idiots. They have merch written all over them.
@CaptainAway3 жыл бұрын
You're right, I totally missed the Bon Jovi thing, which is super obvious now that you point it out. That's just like me to immediately notice Wesley Willis and not at all the much better known Jon Bon Jovi.

I didn't read the series, and so what I say comes from second hand from your review and other stuff I've heard about the book, but I can both understand why some might love or hate this series, but not be in-between. Like you said in the earlier parts of the run, Diana isn't really characterized, she's more just a Greek warrior, which would be fine if she wasn't Wonder Woman. But she is Wonder Woman, who, among being a strong warrior and battle-scarred, answers with compassion and love with more eagerness than her first. Here, from what I see, she's Warrior Woman, an incredibly strong daughter of Zeus who just kind of happens to do things that may or may not be benevolent when it works toward her goal. She's not a villain in any way, but just lacks a lot of what makes her a character you want to be like. Now, on the other side, I totally get why people could love this book. Despite the snark, I love the Percy Jackson books, and what makes them so specially to me is that they serve as hilarious self-critiques of the Olympians while still being entertaining and interesting. And it's a similar case here. Azzarello writes Greek mythology from his own interpretation, and that works here and for the story he wants. It's entertaining, funny, and moving for some, but may fail those who want Wonder Woman as an ideal, incorporating Greek elements and themes, rather than those elements being all-encompassing. Great video, continuing to really enjoy your analysis and jokes!
@CaptainAway3 жыл бұрын
Very well said, I think your analysis is very accurate. Also, I actually enjoyed the Percy Jackson books as well, I'm just not particularly fond of Percy himself as a character. Plus, I felt like being snarky.

Also why Diana shoots the candle is because he’s holding a mirror and it makes him finally love himself.

@B&B brick Studios that makes sense. Because of what had just happened I forgot the guns effected your feelings toward who you were looking at instead of who fired them, but I'm still not sure we see evidence of anything coming of that.

@@CaptainAway yeah lol it’s a good story just a few thing don’t make sense. I heard 100 bullets was better. Is it worth picking up?

@B&B brick Studios I want to say yes because I remember thinking 100 Bullets was a great series while it was coming out, but I will add that it has been a very long time since I've read any of it so I'm not sure if I would still feel the same about it.

Thanks for the Wonder WomanSplanation. I learned A LOT. Actually, I think it's probably good you didn't go into the character origins that everybody knows about, because the creator's kinks are a real turn off (sry for the kink shaming). I'm glad someone recommended this. This is definitely one of my favorite of your videos because I honestly tend to tune out anything about WWI, WWII, and WW. There's just a lot going on here: REGULAR Percy Jackson, Harvey Birdman, esq., Madame Tussaud does Themyscira, Columbo, robot dumbos, and, of course, we will never forget ..... the love guns. Blech, how is that not a euphemism? Lol I never thought about it, but Donna Troy is the weirdest possible name they could have given her. But I guess maybe they're doing a Trojan horse meets thing, but Donna? Idk....ok, I am sorry to report that I looked it up and it's another bdsm thing: Donna--early 17th century: from Italian, from Latin domina ‘mistress’, feminine of dominus ‘lord, master’. "The dragon turns out to be a pretty nice guy...." If I had a Themiysciran nickel. The art style is really unique and interesting. I immediately felt bad for always dismissing the Wonder Woman universe for being lame and unoriginal. The mythology stuff is approached pretty well it seems like. I'm shocked that this seems to be an actual awesome thing that came out of the New 52. I also feel really bad that no one really seems to knows that...... I'm reflecting on myself a bit. I've learned some things today. I think the thing that you said about this being written more like a self-contained indie comic is why it seems like I should probably just read this. Wow ... I honestly feel super bummed for Hades. ...For immortal and basically gender fluid gods, this seems to be a strangely hetero (though in godly fashion, also incestuous and....beastcestuous?) story. ......wait...Zeke? That is a dog's name. Dude I think I'm going galaxy brain or at least Keanu Reeves meme, but...what if zombies only want to learn our languages? Brain food for thought. I mean it's a little weird that the second team makes Diana look a lot like a sex doll. Edit: oh you're describing her as cherubic, which I think is exactly right. She looks like a weird chibi hybrid with soulless eyes like a doe-eyed figurine and it's really unnerving. I definitely prefer the giant-size broad-shouldered version in comics and animation. Be on the lookout for that peacock coat on ebay. It's for my Hera cosplay.

Personally I was really not into the semi rushed ending that azzorello had, felt like it needed weirdly like another issue even though personally it felt bloated 🤢 And is it just me or did the power scaling not feel amazing through out the run? Wonder woman fought Artemis 3 times I think and the writer didn't really explain how powerful is the version of wonder woman is when she had her bracers off... like what's the takeaway from it?
@CaptainAway3 жыл бұрын
Definitely a lot of the stuff revolving around the first born was less interesting to me than the rest of the comic, and it definitely felt like that arc was intended to last a lot longer than it did but ended either due to editorial decisions or the writer not being sure how to continue it so he just jumped to his endgame plans. And yeah, I'm not a fan of the way wonder woman powered up by taking off her bracers. Kinda feels like they just wanted a way to explain her powering up enough to face superdoom in the upcoming crossover.
@wisdomtoast67513 жыл бұрын
@@CaptainAway THANK YOU!! If a world is developed and written with their characters, so should be the rules. The stakes are the most important part of the story. Personal favorite part of the run was the arc with Hades in the 2nd volume but I kinda did hope that the new gods would have a more active role. I know we did get some but part of me wanted to have an army from new genesis to come in during the end as a way to even the odds. Despite those issues I've still really love the comic run. I hadn't considered to check out the rest of the 52 run but after your video I'll check out the run after azzorello then get into the 4 volumes of WW rebirth I've got.

Wonder Woman should have been the daughter of Hades instead of Zues.
