Wonderful World of Disney 2003 open

This is pretty much Disney still at its best. The opens from years back [and the last two] stand out damn well, but this stands out in its own way. Instead of showing the various Disney icons and various movies, like they've always done, this is all based on one theme: "When You Wish Upon a Star."
Long story short, it starts with a man looking up at a star in the sky, and as Disney magic would have it, Tinkerbell flies from the sky, from the outskirts, to the big city, to the suburbs, to that house at the beginning, pixie dust and all. The end result - Cinderella Castles all around.
The "montage," if you can call it in this case, remains in the form of more recent [at the time] movies, most prominently "Cinderella" and the remake of "Annie". (in retrospect, POOR choice) But the music is still full of inspiration, magic and wonder (all of what makes Disney, well, DISNEY), and it DOES give you goosebumps every time you hear it. This is for the Disney purists that still think there's more than Troy and Gabriella, Hannah Montana, and the Jonas Brothers. There are still people that believe in REAL Disney magic.
A note, though: This was taken from a Christmas 2003 airing of "The Sound of Music." A 20th Century Fox picture. Then again, nobody could predict Disney buying out Fox 15 years later.

"Welcome to the Wonderful World of Disney." I haven't seen this intro to ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney since early 2003, when I just turned 18 years old and in my senior year of high school at Capuchino High School, in San Bruno, CA. Ever since I saw this intro to the W.W.O.D. (Wonderful World of Disney), I've loved it and missed it. Thanks for posting, love it so much!!!

Ironically, this intro was used around the time when "The Wonderful World of Disney" was beginning to be less of a "Sunday Night Movie" kind of event that would be shown semi-regularly, and more of an annual summer movie showcase.

I like the concept of this introduction to the television anthology in that each home is transformed into a castle. It's creative, but I agree that some of the actors detract from the overall effort. The best episodes of the series throughout its more than 50 years on ABC and NBC were those that featured documentaries of the creative process. Unfortunately, Walt Disney died too soon, and the show increasingly strayed from that format.
