An unexpectedly lush little oasis and date farm just outside Death Valley, where according to their website "a Chinese man named either Quon Sing or Ah Foo came to this canyon after many years of work in the Death Valley borax mines. He developed the water, planted fruits and vegetables, and raised meat for the local mining camps. It became known as Chinaman's Ranch. Sometime in 1900, a man named Morrison appeared, and, as the story goes, he ran the Chinese farmer off at gun point and claimed the Ranch for his own." Whatever its questionable history, it's a really cool place to visit, with a gift shop full of delicious date nut breads, cookies, muffins...and DATE SHAKES!! YUM!!!

Wonder Hussy, you're the BABE!.. your dog is awesome too! love dates, all those date places, everything about the desert actually. the cactus are also blooming here (Arizona) and my back yard is full of tarantula holes again now that it's spring. a Harris hawk and a Peregrine falcon are searching for dinner overhead

Another cool Wonder Hussy production! We had the pleasure of being able to stay overnight at the ranch this past weekend. The number of stars in the sky and the coyotes howling off in the distance was absolutely amazing. You are correct. The shakes are delish! Sadly, we did not get a chance to go in the shop as it was closed from COVID-19 and people not respecting the social distancing guidelines. Bummer people had to ruin it for the owners and others. Regarding that cabin, for sure, it may be authentic but that spot is not its original location. In the ranch's own literature you can see it was not always there when the pictures for the brochures were taken. Local hikes around the ranch were easy and interesting. Did you see the large area of rusted strewn-about cans? Just many hundreds of rusted cans with no obvious explanation. Did you spy the several abandoned old cars just south of the gift shop?

There's another story about the creation of man's universe from the same region as the Biblical story of Eden. Its when the 1st dragon to be slayed by human hands. Some people believe the iboga tree was the tree of knowledge. Which woukd make sense if both stories arw true. Since Adam probably had the realization that he didn't have to kill food after he had iboga.
