That is one wide neck! I loved this.

Interestingly, practical width is more or less the same as many modern banjos. Up high where it meets the gourd it is very wide, but I never play up there. The high action up there makes it mostly unplayable anyway. This is a design element that I find on a few of the instruments from India and wanted to incorporate for the visual aesthetics. Down at the nut the strings only go part way across. Instead of cutting away the neck above the shirt fifth string I left it there. So there is what amounts to a blank space in the neck and nut there. So it’s also not use for playing. This is inspired by early Caribbean designs. So it is actually pretty comfortable to play! I have another video that show some still images of this. Thanks for watching.

@@LowlyMountainBanjos I didn’t realize! It looks wider than usual. I agree the design here is very Caribbean-like. Nice work.

@@KHbanjo much thanks. Nice playing yourself. I never could get the hang of that thumb lead style, but it sure is nice sounding.

Nice i love Sacred Harp on the banjo, didn't know anyone else did any of this. Although you can't really call this Sacred Harp 159, it's not really the same tune. Just based on it.
