There are 7 billion people on earth. There are at most maybe 1/4 million Elk or 2-3 million deer in any given state. Its not possible to feed the world with wild game. Wild game can support the worlds population from 15,000ya. Which is a couple of million people, at most. "Factory" farming is the only way to provide quality animal based protein for everyone, especially impoverished people. The countries that dis-allow factory farming by law (India), or by being degenerate nations (Africa), all have overwhelming malnutrition of their average population. And those two examples are 1.3B & 1B people.

Great video! You make many great points. Until you brought it up, I had never thought about the issue of where animals actually feel pain. I'm a CT scan technologist, and we often times assist our radiologists in performing CT guided biopsies. As soon as you mentioned how often times internal organs don't have much sensation, I thought about how when we do lung biopsies, the only part that causes the patient discomfort is the initial needle stick in the skin and external tissue, and then when the biopsy needle pokes through the lining of the lung (the pleura). Once inside the lung, the patient doesn't feel the needle. Other organ biopsies are similar in that usually only the more external tissue needs to be numbed up, while the organs feel little. Yes, what it takes for us to be able to put a bite of meat in our mouths isn't a pretty process, but I do feel that wild game, hunted respectfully, is probably the prettiest way that this can be done. Way too many people these days seem to think that meat is just somehow magically created in some back refrigerator at the local grocery store. I've heard several people complain over the years that they, "can't eat meat off of a bone". I just have to laugh at such out-of-touch thinking, while being disturbed at the same time. I'm pretty sure that these people would be utterly shocked to see that their chicken nugget not only grew on a bone, but that it also came from a chicken that lived its short life in a crowded, filthy, stinking, factory farm building. Or I'd love to see their faces when they see the cow that their hamburger came from, in a feed lot pin, literally almost covered from head to hoof in feces. Yep, meat procurement isn't pretty, but most folks these days are so insulated from where their food comes from that they don't have clue. At any rate, great thoughts! And I'm looking forward to seeing how the remainder of Alone season 6 shakes out! -Gareth

Great explination! I have archery hunted for 40+ years, and I immediately knew that he hit one lung and the liver. Both lungs, the moose would have been dead in a matter of a minute or two. The deep red blood indicates a liver hit, which is very common if the animal is slightly quartering to you. One lung isn't exactly fatal as both lungs, but a liver shot is fatal. He absolutely did hit one lung, which is indicated by the bubbles. How Jordan handled the recovery is exactly what I would have done it. A follow-up shot could have ended up with a lost dead moose. As for those saying the moose suffered? He lived his entire life free, and died much more humane than mauled by a bear, which is natural. Great show and my hats off to you guys!
@machinesandthings71214 жыл бұрын
So true.
@l.h.tnguyen49163 ай бұрын
This is incorrect. 1) Blood that leaves the lung once oxygenated will be deeply red. It does not indicate a liver hit. The color is indicative of the organ uptake of oxygen. 2) You have no idea which way the animal quartering you. It is possible he hit the liver but he could have not. One lung shot is fatal because the pool will eventually pool in the lung and you will drown in your own blood, not to mention the blood loss.

Jordan did a great job on JRE explaining why he didn’t want to sneak up on it and try hitting it again. From over 20 yards his recurve bow begins to loose velocity and the arrow begins to arc ... he was over 50 yards from that moose and did not have a good shot available to him. He also explained that another arrow could spook the moose and cause it to run again, but having already bled out substantially there would be no blood trail to follow and the animal would be lost.

As a Canadian, I watched season 6, 2 times! It was so good! I'm really happy for Jordan! Good for him! Jordan was many times in Siberia and had a lot of respect for many traditions! I think some people didn't understand him very well... ------------------------------------------ But you... you were fantastic! Amazing! You are a super woman in my book! We have the same age, I'm a recovering drug addict and I've been through hell. But watching you gave me so much motivation and help me to just get out of bed. With anxiety & depression, watching someone like you it's incridible and give me some hope. Thank you so much!✨️✨️✨️

I have so much respect for how you've taken the time to explain the pragmatic truth of how this went down. It made me super happy that the competition came down to you two.

Just binge watched the entire season. You were not my favorite contestant, but you have a lot of class and a sincere regard for nature. Thank you for clarifying misunderstandings and misconceptions about Jordan's moose hunt.

You are a guru and I would follow you in the wilderness. Miss Woniya thanks for bringing these videos to us. I was once an outdoors man in my earlier years but not at your level. I don't get out there at all now, but would love to.

Thanks Woniya for your very thoughtful and informative comments, I learned a lot. You have a nice way of communicating your opinions, without making the viewer defensive or angry. I really enjoyed Season 6. I really thought that location was the most challenging of all the Alone locations. It was nice to see you and Jordan lasting the longest out there. You were my favorites. You both had the right mindsets, skills, and temperament to live in that environment. Btw, I give you the Gold medal for shelter construction, that was an amazing structure, well designed and expertly built. I am happy to have found your channel and look forward to following your content. I hope you are doing well and surviving COVID, which seems to be another survivor challenge we are all experiencing these days.

You go Girl. Living in the interior of Alaska. Alone, in a cabin without water I’m deeply thankful that you take the time to explain to people who lost a healthy connection with nature, meat processing a long time ago. I was very impressed to see your skills out there. ... and you are right it’s time that a woman wins it. For me you are the one who could have don’t it. I know how cold and dark the winter are in the arctic because I live not far away from it. You did so well. Take care.

Two Natal Yods You are kidding, right? Women have the same chance to win that like men. What exactly can men do that women can’t do there? In fact many women at the show were tougher than their male competitors. Hysterical crying after 6 weeks and calling out for wifie is not exactly winning material.

You are AWESOME! All 3 ladies on season 6 were truly incredible. You had the best shelter and mind game. Jordan had the perfect combo of experience. You were both creative and adapted to your obstacles. Maybe you can get on a future season? I'd bet on you.

Woniya, you’re so wise and have such a beautiful soul. I enjoyed watching your journey and was rooting you on. Your message in the last episode was so on point, expressing the human need for self love. The fact that you mentioned you wanted to take care of yourself on your birthday was so humbling and absolutely amazing. Wishing you so much blessings and good health in life.

I have never commented on a KZbin video before but Woniya you rock! I was truly impressed by your performance on the show and the unreal amount of skillsets you possess. Truly is a shock that (although you didn't mention (at least at length) why you weren't married with kids because you seem like you would not only be great friend but also wife and mom. Hoping they offer (and you go) on another alone competition. P.SW

I only just saw the final episode last night and was heartbroken you had to leave, but what else could you do? Money can't take the place of thriving health in the long run. So glad you talked about the moose kill. He absolutely did the right thing, and it's always hard to witness the death of a beautiful animal. But as you talked about with the slaughterhouses, that is a far worse death than any skilled hunter could cause. Hunting is the THE most humane way of procuring meat. Far more big game starve to death than are ever taken by hunters. Who would want that suffering?? Wolf kills are gruesome indeed, but it's part of the circle of life. Thank you for this thoughtful and well-spoken video.

Grateful for you sharing your wisdom on this. I was so rooting for you to win Season 6, and totally respected your decision to control your exit. Jordan was indeed a skilled and worthy competitor and I was glad to see him make it to the end. I loved seeing you and the other amazing women make it so far in the competition-you are great role models and brought well articulated feminine strength to the forefront. Looking for ways to support you all so you can reap some more rewards from your experience. I do appreciate how much wisdom you seemed to have gained in spite of (or perhaps because of) not having the financial win. Blessings to your incredible spirit!

Thank you for such a good video Woniya! Great explanation of the process involved in killing and processing an animal and the gratitude for the life that was taken. My husband and I have watched every season and we are in awe of everyone's skills. As the seasons progress we feel like the bar just keeps going higher in terms of skills. It is always hard to see someone go home and we wish there we 2nd and 3rd place prizes because everyone works so hard to get to that point and have given up a lot to be there. We were hoping you would be the first woman to win, but when we saw Jordan catch that fish it felt like the odds were against you being able to carry on. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us. Your compassion, patience, teaching and great attitude made you a wonderful contestant. I didn't realize you had a channel so hitting that subscribe button and going back to catch up.

Woniya and Jordan were both my favorite top 2 people. I wanted either of them to win and I’m so glad that they both ended up as top 2. Both of them were so humble and grateful with their time in the arctic. None of them expressed arrogance or saying they were going to win. They just kept on going and worked with what they got. This was a great season to watch.

I agree with you 100%. I just rewatched season 6 and enjoyed every episode. You guys all are warriors and besides the entertainment value of the show, it exhibits the endurance and suffering humans (and particularly yourself) can endure. When I retire from the work-a-day rat race I want to spend more time in the woods and you and all the participants of the Alone series are a huge inspiration.
