You know what i always love about these reviews? You just already know what you're gonna get based on the thumbnail. Is a movie terrible? Is a movie decent? Is it really freaking good? You just instantly know. I love that.

They don’t make children’s movies of this caliber anymore. Absolutely loved it. They did this absolutely perfectly. Plenty of nostalgia packed in for the older generations but much more new, interesting and whimsical stuff for the kids. Clearly a kids movie but very enjoyable as an adult.

I just got out of the theater a few minutes ago and this movie was so genuinely delightful. My jaw kinda hurts from how hard I was smiling throughout this movie. It just comes from a place of fun, whimsy and feels good-hearted and earnest. I could see it being a little too childish for some people, but very similar to the Paddington movies, this one is is impossible to hate for how heartwarmingly good natured it is.

@@ghostman1931 geez sorry. That’s just my own reflection on the movie. I could not care less about what you thought. If I liked a movie, then I liked a movie. If you didn’t then that’s fine. Similar to how I’m not the center of the universe, neither are you getting upset over my opinion. I would very much like to hear yours. It never hurts to gather more perspective, but personal attacks on myself is simply childish. People can have different opinions based on how they feel. If you didn’t like the movie, that’s perfectly fine. You don’t need to shoot down my enjoyment for fear of an opinion that differs from yours.
@gamer3ed484
@gamer3ed484 Жыл бұрын
@@ghostman1931 What I meant was I would very much like to hear actual criticism rather than your anger based solely on the fact that I have my personal experience when talking about how I felt about a movie. You give no actual reasoning for why you personally dislike the movie. Rather you focus on my supposed obsession with myself rather than laying out any actual criticism of the film. I would be interested to hear that, as hearing the opinions of others can offer valuable perspective. I really don’t know what I did to anger you so badly, but calling me selfish for sharing my opinion is odd. My opinion holds the same validity as your own and there’s nothing wrong with that. It truly does not matter as much as you think it does. I’m just amazed at how someone could get so angry about a KZbin comment.

I think this was a good family movie! Nothing spectacular as everyone says, but nothing horrible either. The movie I think captured a very early version of Wonka, still wet behind the ears, but hidden genius that everyone views as mad. In the books and even in the Burton film, Wonka is capable of doing all these crazy things with candy that no one would ever imagine was possible. That feels like this movie's world: it can be weird and whimsical, but held back only by the mundane and logic. As Jeremy said, you just want to root for Wonka and that's exactly what I did. I wanted him to defy the the odds and beat the cartel and become the (in)famous chocolatier he was destined to be.

What I like most about this movie is how much like a Roald Dahl story this felt while somehow being the most grounded Dahl adaptation we've gotten since the original Willy Wonka and Matilda movies.. The bully characters, the abusive-to-children adults, the challenging of a system, the absurd body shapes and colors, a bunch of Dahl tropes all tied together in a story of whimsey and wonder.

I saw WONKA Thursday , opening day and what a delightfully silly , yet youthfully fulfilling, jaunt through a childhood fantasy extravaganza candy shop delirium 😂..I just found myself humming the tunes and tapping my feet with the songs and dance numbers .. the visuals in this were optically delicious and I felt myself satiated both in my eyes, ears and mouth which never happens in any movie .. this is a rare treat, IMO, for those seeking an immersion in childhood delights , as well as the obvious optimism of youth and naivety that comes with thinking the world is full of ‘good meaning people ‘ .. and in the end that’s what we can take away which is delightful

Thank you, Jeremy for this review and as always, you made me laugh, which is always a gift regardless of the review itself. Though I have no need for a Willy Wonka “origin story”, and like the kind of “coyote” or trickster nature of the character, more the “you want to know how I got these scars?” kind of thing, rather than Joaquin Phoenix‘s JOKER (which, to be fair, after the second time I saw it, I also saw it as more of an “ unreliable narrator“ type of story with me being able to read more into it, as well as anybody else also able to read more into it than what appeared on the screen) or UNDER THE RED HOOD or BATMAN 1989 way of representing the character. Nevertheless, your review has me at least a little intrigued and since I still have an unlimited pass for the regal theaters at least for the next couple of months, I may check this out before my pass expires.

I got signed onto when I was about 50K subs and oh boy did that year of them taking money off the top without offering anything in return sucked. Over promise and never deliver is their guiding mantra. Was so relieved when I got out of my contract. Great video! Really loved Wonka!

Never in my life have I ever been glad to be proven wrong about a movie. Wonka is a lovely movie with good songs, great pacing and enormous heart handled excellently by Paul King. Timothée Chalamet was great in the role and the movie overall is perfect for the holidays. 8/10 I'm really happy with Warner Bros rn. Aquaman 2 better not be shit.

I'm not a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fan, but I went to the cinema to see Wonka with my 2 friends today, and we had a pretty good time! Some of the jokes got a good laugh out of us, and my friends told me they went in with low expectations, but came out satisfied. Timothee's acting and voice was top notch, and I also loved the CGI and the colour palette. There were a group of small kids sitting in the rows before us, and they seemed pretty entertained too, and didn't mess around much or make noise. Overall I'd give a 7/10, just because I feel like the pacing and a bit of the plot could have been better but otherwise great fun, I recommend for families

What I loved about it was the trueness to Roald Dahl’s style with the cartoonish sequences but the most noticeable is the lack of explanation Wonka is a mysterious magical man and they don’t explain why, they leave it a mystery. The best aswell is the rhymes and word plays that are so true to the books I read as a kid.

When I was growing-up in the 70's and 80's, the cultural catalogue for modern pop culture was about 30-40 years. The so-called Rock era began in the 50's and we were only a couple decades into it. Today, children and young adults of the same age have about 70 years worth of material to learn. This made me realise that each generation trims the fat so to speak. Each generation decides what is worth passing to the next and so on and so on until only the highlights remain - The Classics. So Gene Wilder moves to the next level where Johnney Depp does not.

I was highly skeptical of the early "commentary" channel reviews saying this movie was trash and I'm glad it seems I was right. I don't tend to trust those channels to begin with since their main goal seems to be being as hyperbolic as possible for views rather than being honest. Jeremy, though, has earned a good reputation for speaking the truth about what he thinks of a show/film, and while I don't always share the same thoughts I really appreciate that honestly. Personally, the minute I saw the Paddington guy was attached to this project my opinion did a complete 180 from "meh, why?" to "this is going to be the sleeper hit of 2023" and I'm really looking forward to seeing it

I like the way the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film uses Willy Wonka as an enigmatic character, while Charlie is the main character you follow along on his journey. I don't like this modern fixation on trying to explore and explain a once mysterious and iconic character-"Just who was he? What was his background?" It takes away the magic and fun of wondering why they are the way they are. Not every story needs a prequel.

Cause the movie I saw was a complete plot garbage heap, a psychedelic trip of a cgi ride, and nothing less than broken karaoke machine for unasked musical pieces. Seriously there was nothing memorable or enjoyable about this movie to me. And im sorry but the supporting characters were just BAD. The Oompa Loompa was the only redeeming quality of this movie. I enjoyed both the original, and the Tim Burton adaptions. And don’t get me wrong I GET that the original is a musical and cheesy and it’s magical to our nostalgic hearts but kids movies have adapted. I just didn’t realize I was walking into a movie that handles their audience like a daycare.
