Im glad I have that tidbit of info on Flanger as it's my favorite effect, I wanna make a pitched flanger but I didn't know the specifics of how it worked so I had to do some research, now I've found that to find the ms of delay the equation 1/hz × 1000 xan be used. This VST gonna be WILD!

This is the best explanation on this topic. Thank you for this upload. However, I do think that in the "flanger" explanation at 2:23, the wording should be "negative feedback or positive feedback" rather than "feed-forward or feed-back". I think that "feed-froward and feed-back" is a mistake in this case.
@Woochia
@Woochia 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks ! For the feedback, we can say negative or positive feedback, but I used feedback and feedforward terms as I saw them used in many sources to talk about comb filters (Wikipedia, Stanford university, McGill university,...)

Pretty concise. Although I'll contend that this is but pseudo-flanging, because it can only address the portion of the copied audio that is being delayed in time, and not the half that is advanced - as on a genuine 2 tape machine+mixer-to-another-recorder setup.
@Woochia
@Woochia Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah in that context of a two tape machine, yes. And the delay are still delayed one compared to the other, and mixed together, etc...

Love the way you present and explain. Question: Looking at the numbers in the plugin, the chorus delay time can also be super low, like a flanger's. I wonder how close these two sound with the same delay times 🌚. Thanks for this!
@Woochia
@Woochia 2 жыл бұрын
Yes they can have the same delay time when you look at the knob, but they don't affect exactly the same thing. The chorus plays with the pitch so it can quickly feel out of tune with a long delay time

Do you know what I don't see on KZbin though I don't see anyone arranging the production process step-by-step like as in stage by stage music production steps and then thoroughly explaining in detail what you use when you use it and also having projects that you know followers can follow. So you go through your production process just like PML does with their paid courses, but only on KZbin.... then continue doing projects. That would be a big community. There's a lot of value in that...
@Woochia

Good call. This would be easier to find on twitch I guess, as it would be much easier to record the whole process as a live stream. When I made videos where I produce a track, I found it hard to keep everything during the edit. A lot of parts need to be cut out to keep a good pace. But maybe there's a way to do it, but it would still be a very long video I think
@seanraye
@seanraye Жыл бұрын
@@Woochia oh I get you. I understand 👍. PML does it in 5 to ten minute videos within a project per project. So it's really sectioned out. But thank you I'll check out twitch.. not to take anything away here your are doing exceptional work bro. 👏 I'll always be around...

And what does the lfo on the flanger and phaser change ? The volume, the pitch or something else ?
@Woochia
@Woochia 2 жыл бұрын
On the flanger it changes the delay time between the two signals. It's similar for the phaser, except all frequencies are not delayed by the same amount.

Good tutorial, but try using not only a less annoying sound sample, one that we can relate to, like a guitar note. In a way is like they all sound the same with that noise.

ott=?
@Woochia
@Woochia Жыл бұрын
For the OTT, this is not in this episode as the OTT is a multi and compressor. You can find a small section about it in the episode about compressors, or you. Can see it more in action in my last video about dubstep sound design
@rmanpojo8485
@rmanpojo8485 Жыл бұрын
@@Woochia ok but what is OTT ?
@Woochia
@Woochia Жыл бұрын
@@rmanpojo8485 Ah! OTT, originally, was a preset for Ableton's multi band compressor. Basically it cuts your sound in 3 bands (low/mid/high) and compresses the hell out of it, so all 3 bands will be brought at the same level no matter what. So it makes a flat sound that loses all its dynamics (there's no quiet or loud anymore, it's all brought at the same volume), but it's been used a lot in dubstep to reveal texture and grain in the sound. It got so popular that Xfer (the company who made Serum) recreated it as a free VST plugin. It's used by many MANY producers who often put one, two or even three of those in their effect chains, even before starting to design their sound, because they know they want that HEAVY compression to make their sound go brrrrrr (OTT stands for "over the top")

What’s an “OTT”? And please don’t say “over the top”!
@Woochia
@Woochia 6 ай бұрын
That's a multiband compressor. It's like there one compressor for the bass, one for the mid and one for the highs. And they all do both upward and downward compression. OTT is a particular preset of that, with very tight settings. I'd say it's over the top.
