Dude! Absolutely had to stop by to give you props for this. You got the cadence of information PERFECT for me - and you pack a lot in, but hey, the pause button exists! This has really accelerated my ability to get to grips with my new Lofi, and I wanted to thank you for that. You've got a new subscriber :) Thank you for not making 1hr out of 20mins of solid content. Brilliant :)

Thanks for this! I ordered an XFM from Amazon and they sent me a Lofi instead.. after watching this and playing with the Lofi, I'm keeping it! It's pretty easy to use and has already replaced my Volca Beats (lol)!

The sound lock is one of my favourite features. I like to fill the empty steps on the drum or bass track with different samples and play with the pannig and send effect. You can get a lot of mileage out of one track that way. I use the same technique with the Digitone. This is a very powerful device and the price is just awesome

Thank you for your very detailed guide 😊 Hehe I like what you did with the wooden modular shelf system in the background 😄 I used do that "hack" as well, where you just put the shelf a couple of steps up on the back to make it slant 😁 But I didn't think of buying them in 2 different heights like you did 😅 Did you also get shelves that are a little deeper than what the end parts are to compensate? Beceause I didn't think of doing that either, so can max do a 2 or 3 step difference in height, which tended to be enough but still a little wonky 😆
@Woochia5 ай бұрын
That's a thing I build as I didn't know how to get one to the dimensions I wanted. I drew the plans, bought some wood pieces, then cut, screwed and glued it together.

Great tutorial thank you. Does anyone know if you can apply a sample to every key with the sample automatically tuned to that key? Like the Casio SK 8 or the Yamaha SSV-30.
@Woochia Жыл бұрын
The sample is automatically transposed on every key, but you need to tune it manually so the C is actually a C. I have to check the updates though, as some have been released for the firmware

Hi, very awesome tutorial!! I'd like to know more about a few things (I already read the manual...) could you reply me? 1) is it possible to trigger patterns using the program change on the global midi channel? 2) selecting the 12-bit mode, will it play all samples at 12 bit despite of the quality they were sampled at? I mean: if I sample something at 24-bit freq, then I switch on the 12-bit mode, will it play back my samples at 12-bit? 3) Does the LoFi-12 save the single track status (muted/unmuted) along with the Pattern data? Thanks!!!!

Are there functions/options to save to external media… like an SD Card?
@Woochia5 ай бұрын
You can save presets on a computer via midi dump, and to record the sound I make with it I just record the output with a sound card. I don't think there are many options to export things, I have to check the manual :/

A very important moment is not covered: how do start/end and loop points behave in relation to each other...let's say i've set the length of the sample and the length of the loop, but now i want to move the start point without changing the length, would it work or would i have to use all the four knobs again to move it? that would be absolutely ridiculous, but i couldn't find any clear confirmation anywhere...

Would this or a Novation Rhythm (they are about the same price where I am) be better, for a newbie?
@Woochia9 ай бұрын
I've haven't had the opportunity to try the Novation Rhythm but it looks pretty dope. The only downer I see about it is that every track is monophonic, so you can't play chords and if you want several drum hits to play at the same time, that would use several tracks. Also, on the Lofi-12, it's easy to sample anything by plugin your phone into it with a minijack cable. then you can sample anything from youtube or any website, whereas on the Rhythm, it seems like you have to go through an app
@BendApparatus8 ай бұрын
Everything he said, THOUGH the Rhythm also has program lock, they call it sample flip. Which would allow you to have both a kick and a snare on the same track...(This was also on the O.G circuit, though research it to be sure)

I can't get anything to work on this thing. Any time I select a different part of the drum IT WORKS ON 1 KEY AND NOTHING ELSE. It doesn't give me different pitches to allow me to create a beat, what is happening with this thing? Wish I never got it
@Woochia9 ай бұрын
My guess is it has to do with the type of instrument you select (as is the voicing options). If the type of instrument is drum or chop, it won't transpose the sample across the keyboard. If you want the drum sample to be transposed, you need to chose a melodic instrument and select your drum sample
@BendApparatus8 ай бұрын
Did you give up? The livens have a very specific workflow that they all share. You have to learn it 1st before you can make anything. Like Charley said, you have to choose the right voice mode for the type of sample you are using.

Hi, I got me a LoFi12 a week ago. I love it, but I have a problem. I am not able to manage to play my Synth using the lofi12 keyboard and sample at the same time. I can play the synth using the lofi12 as a midi keyboard. But as soon as I hit function and record, it stops sending midi notes to the synth. So I am not able to sample the synth sound using the lofi as a midi keyboard. Am I missing something or is it just not possible to do this? Thank you very much.

I think there’s an update to resample now
@gsboss Жыл бұрын
Between this and textures, which would you recommend? I cant make up my mind
@Woochia Жыл бұрын
Really depends on how you use it. Texture lab has more possibilities to mangle the sound and you can you it as an audio effect, but with the Lofi-12 you have 4 tracks and it's very quick to record, cut and use new samples. For the use I have, I'd go with the Lofi-12 but it probably just personal taste.

Do you know if it’s possible to use the sequencer on this to sequence external synths? And if so, is it possible to trigger one-shot samples on the Lofi 12 while the sequencer is controlling the external synth?
@Woochia Жыл бұрын
It has a midi output, so yeah it should be able to control another synth. Then it has 4 tracks, so maybe you'd be able to play a few samples on 1-3 tracks, and have the 4th track dedicated to controlling the external synth. It would be worth checking the manual to see if you can set a midi channel for each track individually.
@m0osebeard Жыл бұрын
how do you slow down the arpeggiator speed?
@Woochia Жыл бұрын
Gotta double check that, but isn't it by changing the speed of the sequence? Basically the arpeggiator takes 1 note = 1 step.
@BendApparatus8 ай бұрын
Pretty sure you can slow it down using the global tempo as well as by changing the note signature.

Hi, do you know- can you record unquantized into the sequencer?
@Woochia Жыл бұрын
I'd say, you can record a long sample, and put a long note over the whole pattern, so the sample would play as is. Alternatively, if you want to move individual notes around, you can automate the laid-back knob on each step

From what I recall, yes, but that would be worth to check it in the manual. Though when you change pattern on the fly, it will wait until the end of the loop before it plays the next one
