Just started sanding one today. I hate my life right now. Sanded till 7pm and will be sanding all day tomorrow. This is one job I wouldnt mind seeing robots take over. Beautiful job on the floor boss. Not many quality oriented folks in our trade anymore. At least in my neck of the woods. Thanks for the help on this floor Mr. Handyman.

As long as the asbestos is locked into a sub material and doesn't freely float in the air, it can be handled without specialty equipment. The government went heavy handed as usual when asbestos was linked to cancer, what they didn't say it was guys like my brother that breathed in handfuls of the crap while removing it from ships in the 80's that caused the issues. No, they knew the dangers. When guys were installing it in ships way, way back when, it was known asbestos was bad news. No one said anything because it was not an issue like now.

that hole in the floor, did you find out what it was for? In an old house my grandpa build, it was an air duct as the stove was in the basement and the heat came up through those holes, that had registers over them!

I've really enjoyed your videos on this project. My wife & I just purchased a 1930 two story house that will likely be our home through our "golden years" and are about to start on the remodel. I have a couple of questions, hoping you can give us your opinion. First, do you prefer satin or gloss finish on the hard wood floors, and second, how do you feel about a dark stain applied to the floors? Our house will be very light inside, including new kitchen, wall & trim colors, and most of our furniture. We thought the darker floors would give the house a warmer feel. Thanks for what you do, I've learned a lot. Cheers.
