I have to convince my husband that people want things made of weathered wood! 😂 Just one small (6 ft) obstacle! 🤦♀️ I am also working on getting a jig saw and when you said that it operates similar to a sewing machine, well hey, I have all kinds of those skills! 🥳🥳 I can't ever pick a favorite but I watch Krafty Kathy, too! TYFS Kim ❤

Just found your channel … lovin your ideas. ❤️ I’ve only used paper clay in the molies . Does this DAS clay crack over time ??
@CreativeDIYPurpose2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Chris & Welcome! I would love to learn how to make paper clay! It doesn't crack as long as it doesn't dry too quick. In warm temps I usually apply a damp paper towel over the clay then the next day flip over the piece and repeat. When I apply the clay directly on to a piece like in the video (I'm usually in a hurry and skip that step) but I do apply a sealer a few days later which may prevent cracking. Usually, we create the clay piece, allow it to fully dry then apply it to the project. However, if the item isn't flat, we apply as shown in video then a few days later. ❤️❤️

If you don't have those mold what what would you suggest using to get a similar effect?
@CreativeDIYPurpose2 жыл бұрын
You can use anything with texture to roll or push on top of the clay. Some ideas are lace, leaves, a doily, faux pearls, wicker, etc. Then cut the clay to the desired shape ♥️

Kim... where do you find your "stone" colored Air Dry Clay? I mainly use IOD's Air Dry Clay but I'd love to use a stone colored one. I have only seen white DAS Clay in stores and on Amazon I found the Terracotta for a reasonable price but they wanted almost $30 for stone

Amber, it's at Walmart.com - www.walmart.com/ip/DAS-Stone-Modeling-Clay-Block-Air-Hardening-Clay-Stone-2-2-lb/388635138 - this one is $10 for 2.2 pounds and does ship to your door. Kim... I have noticed that you mainly just use glue on a your projects. I understand that wood glue is much stronger than nails in the end but on other projects, when adding items to spindles and what not when you are not using wood against wood and therefore wood glue wouldn't be appropriate and also wouldn't work to the best of it's ability as well as using like E6000 or Gorilla Clear glue, do you ever have an issue with things coming apart? I know that you resell and I do too. I always add brad nails or a screw or even hammer nails with all of my projects in fear of them coming apart. I would be mortified if I sold something and it came apart. Even if I am adding like a metal kitchen item to a wood candlestick or a spindle to make a riser, I drill a hole into the metal item, add glue and then add a screw. Do you think I am over doing it? I know E600 is strong but I don't know, lol.
@CreativeDIYPurpose2 жыл бұрын
I usually use E-6000, this was my first time using the Gorilla Glue on non wood (the clay & metal hook) only because I didn't want to deal w the fumes from the E6000 in this heat. Great point. Aything I sell I test for durability prior, but lately have either been keeping or giving my projects to friends. I agree w you and no you can never overdo when it comes to customer service & quality. E6000 is very strong as long as it has a good solid base to adhere to but does come apart in freezing temps. (I tested it outside last winter) Thank you for bringing my attention to adding screws more to my projects to show others the right way. Do you also upcycle furniture along with smalls?
