Mike, Great video. I have been using a wooden cone centre for years (per Bob Hamilton) and find it great if I have to get close to the centre. No damage to my tool and easy to make a new centre if need be.

A good idea Mike. I made a couple early on which just sat over my standard pointed live centre, not the best fit. However I've since bought the multi live centre from Axminster and one of the attachments is a mini face plate which would make this even easier.

Excellent tip on making that large cone. I like the grub screw idea. You might want to check on the availability of the Teknatool Nova live system. It has a lot of versatility on adapting wood tips more so than the Oneway IMHO at about half the price. I did a review video on it a while back.

Nice video, Mike. I have seen that you have solved your chuck with a water pump tongs. I made a ring of cardboard (about 2 mm thick), inside the diameter of the chuck holder and outside diameter slightly bigger than the diameter of the chuck. The cardboard then looks like a "large cardboard washer". With me holds the chuck and I can solve it with the hand.

Thanks for sharing! PS: I haven't tried that but wouldn't it be possible to use rubber bands attached to several pins around the cone and the bowl of the goblet instead?! Might work to create a contant pull, I think. Just a thought ...

Another great video to learn from Mike, cheers my friend. Just one novice question if I may....the shape of the cone will always be a set shape for the goblets, what will you do if you want a different lip design?……would you change the cone shape or something else?? I hope that makes sense...
@MikeWaldt7 жыл бұрын
Thank you Marc. If the cone I have made here doesn't suit a particular piece, then without much work, a new one can be turned :) No question is ever a "novice" question, all questions are relevant, and important, how else do we learn? Take care...and keep asking questions ;) Mike

Hi Osvaldo, we call it a threaded insert, and you can get them in different thread sizes. here is a link to one of many sellers on E bay, this is not necessarily the cheapest, you'll have to shop around, but it will give you an idea of what they are. Hope this helps. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M4-M5-M6-M8-M10-THREADED-HEX-DRIVE-FIXING-TYPE-D-WOOD-INSERT-NUTS-ALL-SIZES-/321618140748 Cheers Mike

Not sure of UK availability, but Woodtek makes a live center that is essentially a duplicate of the OneWay ... sells for about US$70. Doesn't have the array of attachments the OneWay has, but is 3/4" x 10tpi so you can easily thread your own cones and fixtures. See: woodworker.com/woodtek-live-center-2mt-mssu-159-164.asp
