Wood Turning The Segmented Star Bowl

Here I turn a bowl made from pieces of wood glued together to form a star inside of the bowl.
This bowl has a star shape inside and out. It is made of 49 pieces of wood. I used Ash and Walnut plus a small piece of Maple.
The star is not inlaid but it is a part of the the glue up to make the bowl. All pieces go from the inside to the outside.The star is glued first then the outside pieces are added to form the bowl.
This is somewhat of an extreme segment glue up but was worth the effort I put into it.

Thanks Don and I think I have to start making these smaller. Hard to find a place to sit them. I have plans to build a shelf that will hold this one and 2 others on a slight angle. We had planned to get rid of the 1904 piano we have but that did not happen again..lol That was another project done almost 40 years ago. We stripped it down and refinished it and I made a few trim pieces to replace damaged ones. Gary
