Hard to believe this was carved from a piece of wood. What talent! A real treat to see you carve this exquisite piece. Lost art in today's instant world. Thank you.

Years ago I saw a beautiful centuries-old Northern European statue of St. Joseph in the Berkeley Art Museum. I noticed it was made of limewood. This really stirred my interest. Aside from the fine workmanship the wood had such a wonderful color and smooth texture. It is great seeing your project. It gives me a very good idea of how workable limewood is.

Found this on a link from researching Grinling Gibbons work, and I can’t think of no better praise then to say that, to me anyway, you are his equal in this type of carving. Was that work for a dentist or dental school? …. It definitely has dental tools carved there, and the whole composition is amazing. Five years after putting this up you are still astounding people, fantastic. Thank you buddy! 👍🏻😷🏳️🌈

I cannot get over how fine your craftsmanship is, from the conceptual drawings to carving, piecing together, everything. You are a rare survival. If you happen to notice this, I’m wondering if you followed any training or apprenticeship, or if you are self-taught?

Patrick, what amazing work. Would you mind sharing how you fasten the bigger pieces together, and how you intend on installing this over the door? Also, what is the board or surface made of that you glue your pieces to on the workbench? MDX with vinyl top? Granite? Thanks!!!

I'm a long-time admirer of your work. Do you finish your lime wood carvings with beeswax or oil?
