If you find yourself in a similar position at some later date and don't have a camera with a usable format there's some free video format converters available that change recorded camera formats to MP4. Some of them put their watermark on your video. One that's free and puts no watermark is HandBrake. It also greatly reduces the file size depending on the settings you make before pressing the "convert" button. Here is the link to the official download page. There's some tutorials on youtube showing good settings. I've used HandBrake and like the way it works.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately HandBrake is 64 bit and my wife's laptop is 32 bit so it won't help, but I might download it for my home PC just in case I need it. I did have a converter but when they upgraded the free version I had been using for years they suddenly added a watermark so I deleted it.

Hey, I downloaded Handbrake to my PC and finally used it this week. Not to convert a video but it actually fixed a corrupted avi file for me. I don't think it intended to but it did it. I tried a corrupted MP4 file but it couldn't handle that one.

If you check the Woodcraft website or KZbin channel there are proper step by step build videos for many of their products. I very rarely have a problem with the genuine kits. Just follow the numbers step by step. Copying the numbers from the instructions and writing them on the wood is a good idea too as it means you find all the numbers before you start working on the build. It also helps you identify if there are any numbers missing from the instructions. When I buy these, I usually get them from charity shops at very reduced prices and sometimes suspect they may be "seconds" or "rejects" from the product run.
