I used to study Jerry West's jumper when I was a kid and had pictures of his J all over my binder and notebooks. Man, I knew his shooting form inside and out but this is the first time I've seen this video. Other kids might doodle but I was studying Mr Cutch's jump shot. 😂 In this video he's mainly shooting going to his right but he was equally adept at shooting going to his left off the left handed dribble. There have been many great shooters in NBA history but I still haven't seen a better, quicker pull up jumper.

I love Jerry west he is my favorite player. I kinda took his jumpshot and made it my own. Jerry west uses his middle finger while I use my first finger. Jerry west likes to keep both of his hands on the ball while I like to shoot it on handed and have my guide hand on the side. So my guide hand does not touch the ball I had a bad habit of using my guide hand and using thumb flick lol. Coaches never really gave me a chance I wore the long socks and everything. I have bad asthma, I used to weigh 230 pounds and I went down to 164. I never gave up, but I never let a coach disrespect me because I always think I work hard and I deserve better. Jerry west never gave up and I know he would not let a coach disrespect him because he worked hard. It’s the players that work hard that never get enough credit. It’s the players that have the game in the back of their heads that never get enough credit. Jordan finally got a chance to prove to people he could play ball and look what he did. People say Jordan is the greatest, but I like Jerry west and wilt chamberlain more lol. I love doing elbow shots, jump hooks, post hooks and everything. I was the only person on the high school team that had a hook shot and my coach did not believe in it. I never got to play. My teammates loved me and they always said do that one thing you do that hook shot. I was all about being old school. No 23 zone man to man defense is the way to go. I’m glad people love Jerry west

Interesting. My high school coach always said to shoot for the back rim. Jerry says shoot for the front rim.

5:18 underrated aspect about the pullup. notice how he brings the ball up from the side rather than in front of him like normal so that he can protect the ball from getting swiped. Then, he balances himself out mid air. elite mid range shooters do this. the big o did it, kobe did it.

Love this. Thank you! Do you happen to have the defense one he did as well?

In my opinion Jerry West and Michael Jordan were the best two-way shooting guards in history. I was lucky enough to see him play in the late 60's and nobody worked harder than Jerry. His defense was just as good as his amazing offense. He's definitely on the Mount Rushmore for guards.
