@Cationification That light is the Guard's Indicator. According the Signalling NSW page on the NSWrailDOTnet site: "This is a small black box usually mounted under the awning at a station, with the words "GUARDS INDICATOR" written above a white light. This light is illuminated when it is safe for the train to leave the station. It is provided for the train guard, so that he/she does not blow the whistle for the train to leave when it is not safe to do so." Hope that helps!

Interesting video. I commuted from here for a few years before moving up one station. Bill Dargie (4'38") was my neighbour and Woodford's oldest resident when that plaque was laid. He was 91 years old. Chris Parr, the station master did a wonderful job of restoring and beautifying the station. There was even a chook shed on the bank facing the station. Fast forward to the present and it's all looking a bit tired as less interested station masters have come and gone. The gardens are now generically minimal and the 747 mural in the pedestrian tunnel is peeling. I wonder how many people remember the northern carpark is actually a section of the highway before it was rerouted in 1993.

CA Monitor Top Thanks for your fascinating contributions to the history of Woodford Railway Station.Unfortunately the station's ticket office and toilets are now open only for limited hours. In my opinion it is likely that the ticket office will soon close altogether - to be replaced by automatic ticket vending machines (as has happened with so many other stations in this railway network). I posted this video so that people in future years will be able to see the magnificently restored station and its beautiful gardens as they were in early 2010.
