💥 *TIME STAMP* 💥 1:17 I like that size, for a *Tarp* 4:20 that's a nice *Pack* . 5:14 *Main section of pack =>* Cookkit, waterproof, brew kit, Trail tape, 6:54 *Small pouch =>* trangia burner, fuel, brew items , snacks, twig stove, utensils, cordage, lighter etc. 7:48 *Setup for Triangia* 8:15 Why do people use their hands to check , if the burner is flame....I see younge ones copying these videos, and burning their hands....Use a dry leaf or piece of paper, to check..not your hands..LOL

Hi Kanzee, many thanks for watching and taking the time to comment and put the time stamps in. I will pin it too the top :) I couldn't find your other comment, but the pack is a Mil Tec 30ltr. I'm unsure of the model, it was a gift. But you can find them on Amazon. Yes, your right about checking flames with hands. It's an old, lazy habit :) Thanks for pulling me up on it ;) I hope you have a great weekend..... all the best, Mark :)

Hi Josh I hope you are keeping well my friend. Yeah your right, most of my time out are day trips. I try to get out 3 or 4 times a week. Overnighters are great, but when you work, sometimes quick trips are all that can be done. I'm sure when you have got collage out of the way, it will give you more time to get out. It will still be there waiting for you :) Thanks for watching Josh. Have a great week all the best, Mark. :)

Hi Mark. A pretty decent kit you got there mate. I've been using the Mil-Tec brand myself for a few years, I picked one up for about £15 (about 5 years ago and yes they were that cheap back then). Never had any problems with the bag but the quality didn't really satisfy me to be honest. I have to say, a year ago I've decided to upgrade to the Maxpedition brand and I'm really impressed :D. Very expensive I must say, but I've forgotten about the money and now I get to keep the product probably for the rest of my life, and I'm sure I'll appreciate it more and more. Sorry for the long comment anyway. I hope you have a good weekend and you take care Mark. See ya.

Hi Edy, I hope you are keeping well brother. You got that for a good price. I notice they are about £30 now. I would say that is a fair price for the pack, Like you say, if you want quality then it can cost. But it is defiantly worth it. As you mentioned after a while you forget about the cost and you are still left with a decent bit of kit. I like Maxpedition gear. I don't own much, mainly small pouches for my shooting gear. They make sure their stuff is well made. No problem about a long comment mate, it is always nice to hear from you. You have a great weekend too mate. All the best, Mark. :)

Hi Sel, I hope you are keeping well mate :) LOL, I didn't realise what I said until I edited the video. Its the kind of thing that they would of said on a carry on film lol. I don't mind clam shell packs. I have a couple of bucket styles which I like. But the clam shell makes it possible to get to the kit at the bottom without pulling all the other stuff out. I bet it has been cold up there. The moors are often wet and windy places anyway. I spent 10 years living down on Dartmoor and Exmoor and I think it rained everyday. We will have to meet up over the summer and have a couple of nights out. It would be nice to meet up with you. Take care Sel, all the best, Mark. :)

PS: I thought that you were creating a threshold: taking the two end corners down a bit = in case it rained, then the water would shed to the side, and you would have a "drier" area to walk through = put a small tarp for a "dry porch" to lower "mud traffic" under your canopy, or something of the sort. Thanks again. You are teaching the old dog new tricks. :)

I thought I'd go back a bit Mark. I have to say I liked the finishing touch on the tarp there. Very simple but effective. A top rate sack I think. It does what it says on the tin so to speak. Well, enjoyed that loadout Mark. Until next time. All the best. Mark

In this load out I spotted the 700ml pathfinder (I think) nesting with your water bottle so that answers my previous question. I actually came to find and comment on your hammock you use. Actually more so what do you do if you have to set-up camp where there are no trees or points to tie-up your hammock? How important is it to sleep off the ground? I’ve seen various options.
@markbailey2981
@markbailey2981 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Alan :) The hammock I use is a DD Frontline. You can pick them up quite cheaply. Sleeping in a hammock or on the ground is a personal choice. I prefer to sleep on the ground. I will often take a hammock if I know that the ground is going to be too uneven or too rutted to sleep on. If I am going out with the intention of sleeping in a hammock, then I use tree huggers and whoopie slings. They have quite a long length, so it isn't very often that I can't find two trees that can't be used. If I can't I will sleep on the ground. I will still have the same sleeping bag, mat and tarp, so comfort and warmth wouldn't be an issue. Thanks again Alan, all the best, Mark.
@AlanAlanAlanDave
@AlanAlanAlanDave 5 жыл бұрын
@@markbailey2981 What is your set-up for sleeping on the ground? A tent or a Bivy or simply a tarp over?
@markbailey2981
@markbailey2981 5 жыл бұрын
@@AlanAlanAlanDave It depends where I am really Alan. When I used to spend a lot of time in Scotland I would usually prefer a tent because of the midges, but if the weather was cooler I would sleep out under a tarp and in my bivy bag just in case it rained. Last summer when it was so hot and dry I mainly slept just under my tarp in a light weight bag. So it is situation and time of year dependent. I prefer to sleep under a tarp and in a doss bag. It makes getting up in the night easier lol. I hope you are having a nice weekend, all the best, Mark :)

@@markbailey2981 Hi Mark, Sun is out what could be better. I'm considering the Travel Bivi DD Hammock as I think it could possibly offer the best of both worlds. But I guess the knock on issue is A under quilt for the hammock set-up and a Mat for the Bivi. Is it possible to use one of these for both? I thought you also posted a video of your sleeping bag set up - what you have and what's in it, Mat etc.
@markbailey2981
@markbailey2981 5 жыл бұрын
@@AlanAlanAlanDave Hi Alan. Yes it has been a lovely day today. It was a shame I was at work lol. Teaching 20 kids and 10 women fly fishing, I was glad to get home!! I have only ever seen the Travel Bivi Hammock at the shows. I think they had it set up on the ground. It is supposed to be a decent piece of kit. DD make some good gear and the cost is quite good. I keep thinking of getting an under quilt to d a bit more winter hammocking. If you were thinking of using it in the cooler months then an under quilt would be advisable. But if you are going to use it more on the ground then a mat would be a better option. I suppose you could try the under quilt. But I'm not sure how much it would compress under weight. A mat wont compress as much, plus they usually have a non slip side so not to move around in the night. I have shown my sleeping bag a couple of times, but I haven't spoke much about it. I am thinking of doing a few videos on getting ready for the colder months, and doing one on the sleeping bag and mats etc. I like the Snugpak Elite range. They are good quality and you can pick them up for around £90. I hope this helps, have a great week Alan, all the best, Mark :)

Hey Mark 🙂 spring time🎉🎉🎉 it’s actually really cold here also. awesome setup👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 does the orange drink come in all MRE’s 😂Did you make all those leather sheaths? Looking good with that slingshot. Will you be taking it hunting for small game?
@markbailey2981
@markbailey2981 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe, I hope you are keeping well brother. Brrrrrr, yeah it is still cold out. There is a new bit of growth on the tress that I have seen in between the rain and snow :) Your right about the orange drink. It seems to be standard in these MRE packs. I think I had a cherry one once. But it is luck of the draw lol. Yeah I made a new sheath for the belt knife the other week. The small slip pouch for the pocket knife was from a bit of scrap leather I had hanging around. I find it helps it to stop things from getting scratched when the knife is in my pocket. I've had a few squirrels with the sling shot. I also use them at work to take rats out. I tend to use PCP air rifles for most of my small game hunting, but it is always there if I'm feeling hungry lol. Thanks again Joe. Have a great week my friend. All the best, Mark. :)

Hi TheFrazer90, many thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :) The gloves are Carharrt Knuckler C-grip gloves. I bought mine off amazon a few years ago, but I have had a look for you and they don't seem to have them on. I will leave you a link to the Carharrt website where you should find a local stockist. I hope this helps, all the best, Mark :) www.carhartt.com/products/Men-s-C-Grip-Knuckler-Glove-A697

Why does no one mention the toilet paper and scraping tool? I mean, I presume no one is just doing it without wiping and leaving it on the surface, are they? If you think it’s worth carrying bandages for emergency then I can guarantee you need kit for a more likely ‘emergency’ you know? Especially if the bush tucker goes bad on you ! ;D

Hi Micha, the jacket is just a cheapie, made by Regatta. I'm not sure of the name of it, and underneath is a North face down jacket. Many thanks for watching, all the best, Mark. :)

Hi G P, the slingshot is a Jorg Sprave Limited edition sling shot with double bands. I will leave you a link to his website as I think he has a shop on there too. Have a great weekend, all the best, Mark :) slingshotchannel.com/

Interesting. It's funny how most civvies carry a whole lot of unnecessary kit.
