I love this tutorial and the cake!! It is so informative. Thank you for talking us through every step and not just playing music while you did it! You make fondant work look SOOO easy though! How do you keep it from sticking to your fingers and how do you get it so shiny? I always have corn starch or powdered sugar residue after :(

Thank you!! I always use a little bit of shortening on my hands when I'm working with fondant so that is what makes it look shiny:)

Which brand fondant do you use?

I use homemade marshmallow fondant (recipe is in the description box). If I do buy fondant, I prefer to use Satin Ice:)

My fondant tends to dry out and not look shiny like that. How do you keep that sheen on it?

Unless I am rolling out fondant, I avoid using any cornstarch or icing sugar when I am working on my decorations for the cake. I apply a little bit of shortening to my hands to keep the fondant from sticking to them and that helps to keep my fondant hydrated and gives it a nice finish:)

I buy mine online from a site called Cake Mischief, but you can get it from a lot of online stores depending on where you live (I'm in Canada). Its the Rolkem brand and the color was Super Gold. Its my favorite by far, the coverage and the color is so nice!!! They have a really nice silver as well:)
