Woodlice trap

I thought you would like to see how I made a woodlice trap. As soon as my strawberries ripen the woodlice bore into them so I set about trying to rid the area of them. This is the result. Please do not destroy them, put them somewhere else. They are good for the ground as they rid the soil of harmful chemicals.

Thanks so much mate. That is a great idea! Just made 2 traps and fingers crossed. I might be able to eat some of my strawberries. Thanks again

Woodlice not only eat decayed plant but also seedlings. I have millions in my growbeds. They wipe all seedlings overnight in one growbed, and others will eat all my seedlings in a week if I dont kill them. They are NOT bugs to me, they are fk pest. I wish I could kill them all. For those NICE people I suppose you dont eat any animals and you dont kill any nasty bacteria on your body?

Great. Having a nightmare with woodlice and strawberries this year already. I didn't quite catch why you need to add a hole at the bottom.

There is a woodlice killer but I don't want to add chemical to my ground or kill them, so I lift the tub and tip them out away from the plot.

This looks really good, one problem, when you spread your compost they will be back. I put a lot of compost on some potato ground and the spuds got riddled with the blighters.

People who have reptiles and amphibians use woodlice (isopods) as tank janitors & food in their bio active vivariums. Could be another thing you harvest. I just bought some on EBay lol I just paid over $20 for 25 of a hard to find kind and another $25 for 75 of a common one that I run out of cause they get eaten by my pets.

But wouldn't you then be reapplying them to your garden when you put the compost on your garden? I saw a man's video, he put 1 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/4 c water, a few drops of dish soap in a slope-sided wax-coated paper bowl and it killed hundreds overnight. Maybe try adding that to your cups?

@@ezeddiev oh no! Little buggers. Maybe I have just been lucky. I do usually leave a sacrificial plant for the wildlife, so leave them a share. I know I have a lot of frog's and a large community of woodlice spider's, always see them hunting around too
