JdbTrucks, right at the begining of the video, I hear that pulsing idle....is that something common in Detroits, I have heard it before. It seemed to correct itself after a min or so.....any info would help.

I’ve got a 6-71 in mine and have driven another with a 6V53 and drove another kind of truck with an 8V71 in it. All have done that. I’m no mechanic but I think it’s mostly when they’ve been sitting for a while and are cold. Also, when warming up, their RPM will increase. I knew a mechanic who rebuilt a 1966 900 Series ladder truck, and after he installed the Detroit 6-71N he had to get special governor to keep the RPMs constant.

Under powered how so? It's a straight ladder with a V8 Detroit. Looks like it took right off to me.
