Used my new chipper today for the first time. It devoured everything I fed into it.

Well, received my DC1260 yesterday and started assembling it. I felt much more comfortable having seen your videos. The blades needed adjustment but WoodMaxx had included a T-bar with a flat face socket for the job. I am not equipped to drill that 12mm hole of yours in the drum handle so I immobilized the drum with a half inch thick piece of soft wood and tied up the handle with tie raps. Then I set that T-bar square on the bolt and used a long piece of piping in order to apply torque very progressively. It worked perfectly for all 8 bolts. Was I relieved. It was long doing the first blade as I was slacking those adjusting bolts quarter turn, then half turn t a time. Then I realized that I was aiming for 0.35 mm instead of 0.35 inch. Lots of difference! 0.35 inch is about 0.90mm. The second blade was almost spot on. It took me two afternoons to assemble the beast and add oil. Tomorrow, fuel and first start!

Thanks for doing this. I just pulled mine to replace and the bolts are hard to remove without modifying a socket as you say. I think that they used loctite. it has that mushy break and then the stiff first turn. There is some hard red compound on a couple of them. I went online to check what others have done. Our blade shattered and has a large chip out of it. So we are putting in new blades and they send a new set of bolts. But no instructions..

Thanks for your effort on this video series! Great job. Did changing the distance between the blades and the anvil give you any problems and how was the chip size?

No problems at all. The button heads are only maybe 1/16" higher than the OEM boats. Even WoodMaxx was thinking about using them; and after talking to their service rep, I think they will change over to. Still plenty of clearance between the knifes and the anvil.

Thanks for the tip of socket head needs to be flat. To use the supplied wrench, use a short pipe to double the length of the handle, and it worked for me.

Hi - thanks for the great video and helpful advice. Any chance you could add the specs of the new bolts in the description? I'm about to buy this chipper and will likely use your advice to update the bolts. Thanks!

I got 10mm by 25mm (1.50) long in the grade 12, but grade 10's work too.

Looked at the owner manual on WoodMaxx web page. The photo shows a washer between the bolt head and the blade, giving more depth and grip.
