Woodmizer super LT 70 sawing

I could watch this stuff all day. If all you uploaded was stuff like this I wouldn't complain in the slightest. I've been thinking over the idea of having my own mill and kiln setup to give me a price advantage with my moulding and trim as what I specialize in is value added products. Very much a long term goal being able to get much cheaper lumber.

Glad to hear that. Feedback let’s me know what people want to see. Owning your own mill opens up many opportunities. I’ve always thought about making flooring. I currently make cutting boards and fireplace mantels. I’ve got a bunch of videos of sawing coming up. Just finding the time to upload them

@@americandream_89 I have my own moulding machine. I could in theory make my own flooring with it but a task like that would be better suited for something like a woodmaster with a three sided setup or an mp360. Or even a shaper with a power feeder. My moulder has rubber infeed and outfeed rollers so I imagine running flooring on edge would wear them out pretty quickly. I've been flipping between looking at either an lt70 super or a timberking 2520. I like the speed of the lt70 as well as the way it ejects boards, but I really like the 4 post design of the timberking. How easy is it to replace those post bearings for the up and down so you don't get any cant? Is bearing wear an issue for how much you run this thing? I like the woodmizer sawmills, just not a fan of their moulders.

@@flyboy8492 get a Woodmizer! I can’t express that hard enough. Not only faster machine but much more of a technology package. The set works and controls blow everything away. Not one advantage to a 4 post head. Woodmizer also has the best person to person network. As in you call and get someone that will walk you through fixing your machine. I have a video of what to watch for when buying one if your looking at used. I’ve had such a great experience working with Woodmizer. My dad and many others I know share that experience. Working on the Woodmizer is really simple also. I can’t think of anything too hard to do.

@@americandream_89 I'll definitely have to think about it with that in mind. Like I said, I love the efficiency of the lt70. I wouldn't buy anything large like that used though. You never know what that machine has been through. Most of the time you are fine, but when I'm spending that amount of money I wanna be sure of it. Plus a warranty would be nice. I just wish woodmizers moulders were better. I get a bit ocd about having everything the same brand as much as possible. I know you run pallet wood but I'm curious as to how much board footage you're seeing on just a regular day. You've got a pretty good crew it seems like and a pretty efficient operation overall. I'd like to run a similar set up as far as employees go. Someone running the edger and rolling logs while the other guy stacks.

@@americandream_89 a typical woodmaster moulder can easily run around 15000 linear foot per day, and that's taking things easy at half speed. I'd probably need massive kiln.

I love your dust removal system. Where would I find plans or producer for something like that?

Thanks I’m not sure on plans. It’s a conveyer with a sprocket on each end. The chain has plastic flaps bolted to it that drag the dust out. One end has two slots with bolts that tension one end to tighten chain. It’s a extremely simple setup.

3 company’s operator on this site. So I have access to show so much equipment besides mine. Then my dad and I have another site that operates with more sawmills and trucking equipment. I plan to eventually get video of most of the operation. I’m seeing what people have the most interest in. Thank you for your questions.

What kinda board footage are you getting a day

Really depends on what we are sawing. Pallet material between 3000-5000. Grade between 4500-6500. Straight poplar I’ve got a little over 7500 consistently on 16ft good logs.

Yeah wouldn’t think it but starts to add up. 8 cuts on a big white oak and we basically lost 2 boards. Cheaper logs you make up for it in production though with red oak ash and stuff

Thank you! This is this the 3rd Woodmizer I’ve owned I started on a LT50. I have roughly 30000hrs off saw time over my life. I tell people joking all the time I could saw in my sleep. I’ll keep trying to make information that helps.
