Some people say the distance from the blade of the American sliding tables effects the accuracy (slightly) compared to the European style that has the sliding table very close to the blade. I'd assume it will make breaking down full ply sheets into case work parts so much easier!

Excellent upload on this awesome saw, Mike. Just got mine the other day and hope to make some sawdust this weekend. Harvey has the miter gauge on back order and they informed me I could maybe expect it in mid-June; supply chain and covid and yada yada yada, so... Also, had I been thinking, I would have ordered the optional accessory extension wing and the legs to support it; perhaps I'll make my own. Pro tip for assembly: have some vinyl gloves and shop towels at hand during the build, especially for the excess grease found all over the trunnion and blade arbor area. I was glad to have the lube, but removing the excess is essential before making it fully baked in sawdust or worse, sending lube through the dust collector. Love the channel; subscribed!

Hey I have a really quick question about the fence. The fence looks great but are you able to make it just a simple rectangle so you can build tablesaw fence jigs on top of it? Like a tenoning jig or a tall fence for bevel cuts? The fancy high low system would seem to interfere with creating standard tablesaw fence jigs but I was wondering if you could strip it down to just the black part and get rid of the dovetail on the front and the knobs on the back.

Hey Mike. I notice you put the saw up on some 2x4s(?)... any reason for that? Is it to keep the cabinet off the floor to prevent it from getting wet when/if the floor gets wet/washed? My saw should be here in a couple of weeks, and just wondering if I should do that as well. Especially since mine workshop doubles as my garage in the off-hours. Also, did you secure the boards to the floor/saw in any fashion, or just relying on the 400+ lbs of the saw to keep everything in place? Thanks!
@WoodshopMike2 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris! I did that solely to bring the height of the saw up to the outfeed table. I built my outfeed table based on the dimensions of my last saw which was a bit larger than the Harvey. As I understand, some of the saws have threaded holes at each corner so that levelers can be installed. Mine however didn't, so this was the easiest solution. It isn't bolted to the saw and I haven't had any issues with the saw moving around. Let me know how you like it when it's all setup!

I have spoken to them a few times since and got a quote on the equipment I hadn't already purshased from another manufacturer over that week. Grizzly is local for me here in Missouri, it's just too easy to run over and get what I need the same day. I just moved back to the States, so I'm building a new shop from the ground up. Mainly building custom cabinets and furniture. May producing content for a KZbin channel on furniture restoration, but probably not until next year.

Gloves? Seriously?

Gloves are only a problem if you touch the blade, which is an issue with or without gloves...
