+whostolemyTV Experienced Woodstock? YES! The 60'S in general? Maybe, but would you have coped? It was a time when the youth was in rebellion, because they got sent off to wars WITHOUT CHOICE because of national conscription. From the US, Australia, New Zealand, France, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and regular army guys from many other countries like the UK, France, etc. Yet, the 60's was also mainly the time of the Beatles, with "Give peace a chance!". And early in the 70's with the Arches' "A Summer Prayer For Peace". Jimmy (Hendrix) was also an army dropout. So was Elvis. We all had buddies dying next to us on the battlefields, but I prefer to remember only the music and the spirit, but NEVER EVER the times again! Nothing to be nostalgic about, when it concerns the time.

Woodstock 1969 - I was there... Some of my buddies and I decided the night before and we just went. I got there just in time to see the tall chain link fence go down...! I soon took a job selling hot dogs at a concession... all the food was gone in one hour. I made a small pay check for that. I saw a friend from my home town, Steven Tallerico who you will know as Steven Tyler of Aerosmith fame... He was in a very bad condition, if you know what I mean. The crowd continued to swell. I ran into a previous girlfriend and her sister who put me up in their tent. I stayed two or three days on then bummed a ride back to Westchester. I noticed a professional photographer on the stage take a shot in my direction just before I left and when the TIME Magazine special came out in December spotted my distant image although without enough facial details to convince anyone but myself.

My DJ friend saw how disappointed I ws and suggested I do something about it. I said I would. It was about 1:00 in the afternoon when he toldme do something. At midnight that night I was on the national news. I managed to pull off in just a few short hours a huge protest. Thousands of people showed up, and It went on for days; and spread to other cities. The two are hardly comparable. Come on dude.

@@paulwyns3502 The 1968 flu outbreak was associated with comparatively few deaths worldwide (about 100,000 in the United States with half the deaths among individuals younger than 65 years). People who had been exposed to the 1957 virus retained immune protection against the 1968 virus, this would explain the mildness of the 1968 outbreak. There was no social media in 1968 and most people were not aware of the severity of the outbreak.

I was only 6yrs old when this happened and every since I saw the movie I have loved the idea of being a part of that. Everyone says I am a flower child and I guess I am. I'm mellow and wear flowers in my hair. I don't like things that interrupt my daydreams of past years that will never be again. To all you who think like me, peace and love to you all.

I was----and the best part was when politics attempted a take-over of the altar of our church of rock and roll just as THE WHO hit the stage in what was one of the most electrifying moments so far in the fairly short history of live rock and roll at just about dawn of the last long night of what for most of us had been nearly a week of the best time we'd ever had and where now we'd mostly been crashed out exhausted in a pile of 500,000 but suddenly nearly as a single organism came leaping to our feet with the crescendo of energy that was THE WHO. THEN all wrong and as inexplicable was some scrawny guy sprinting across the 20 foot high elevated stage, grabbing the lead microphone, and beginning to scream at us that this festival was bullshit, we all were, this whole thing was bullshit, as long as John Sinclair--the White Panther from Ann Arbor we'd been hearing about, it seemed incessantly, who'd recently been busted for two joints--as long as he rotted in jail, even as Roger Daltry, wild whirling in a white vest with 3 foot rawhide and Pete Townshend leaping windmilling that bad little Ampeg, seeming never to come down but to put its headstock square into the spine of this poor fool yammering about some political shit, this jerkoff who'd thought to beard us where we lived, in our very moment, at our maximum strength, well, of course, this fool flew out over and into us, like a flailing bird, for one long impossible moment, and dropped, one supposed, into the mud surrounding the cleared DMZ before the stage. and the band played on. they'd never even paused, not missed a single beat, not a single leap, Keith Moon's drumstick whirling high into the air, again caught deftly on cue. everyone of us, standing since we'd woken so suddenly, arms waving already, looking incredulously to our nearest neighbors pressed shoulder to shoulder as it seemed we'd been forever. shouting what the fuck was that? did you see that? what the hell? None of us of course knowing who the fuckwad was, whatever had possessed him to play out this sacrifice, getting succinctly just exactly what he deserved for such a sacrilegious stunt, no one suspecting the asshole was indeed Abbie Hoffman himself (later he claimed to have said his piece and JUMPED from the stage--like hell and no fucking way) Townshend speared him as clean as if they'd practiced it a thousand times and Hoffman sailed out into us as if for that one long moment he'd flown--in the wrong place, perhaps in the wrong time--but serving up the perfect poem, the very picture, of the always rocky marriage of politics and rock and roll that was the counterculture, spawn of the Greatest (till then) Generation, and spirited heart of the 20th century, all that gave birth to YOU--the children of the future.

I don't know people have changed so much. The world is not as kind as it used to be I an doing a comparison bonus Woodstock 69 and Woodstock 99 and the audience as well as the artists have lost sight if decorum of what respect and sensibility is. Yes it is Rock and Roll and by all means have fun. Do not trample each other. Rape stab and kill each other do not try and take the band members instruments or tear apart the sets. One does not have to behave like a rabid dog inorder to have fun
