If you need a woodstove, this is the one to buy. Easy to operate, easy to clean, gives out a wonderful gentle heat! Also holds the heat long after the fire dies down. I don't have to reload it in the middle of the night to keep the house warm. Uses much less wood than my old Vermont Castings Encore, I would highly recommend this stove!

Great explanation about how the catalyst works and how to operate.

Thanks for your feedback. Stay tuned in a couple weeks after the temp starts to drop I’m going to be making more videos on this stove. I can hardly wait! It’s like a new car that’s been sitting in the driveway for a few months and we’re gonna be driving it finally! Thanks for watching and have a great day.

Excellent description of this stove's features. I've been heating with wood for many years and I simply love this stove. My stove at the other end of the house is burning out so I will sure replace it with one of these when the time comes. I can put a bunch of wood in at 10 pm, flip the lever for the catalytic converter and there is heat all night and good coals in the morning (6am). I live in Kansas so can't drive up to the factory to buy one but I got my first one delivered to the local lumber yard. It took two good sized young men to get it off the truck and into my house. Best money I ever spent. Had a big bird in the chimney last summer and when I took the chimney apart to free it, I was shocked at how clean it was. Lots of stove burn so that creosote coats the inside of the flue. Not with one of these stoves. That big woodpecker was black with soot when I got him out but the chimney had no creosote.

My daughter in Minnesota bought a Woodstock soapstone stove, and I could not believe the difference in how the stove operates! She made a fire in the evening, and the house was still toasty warm the next morning. I have been burning wood for about 35 years, and I have never experienced a stove like this. The heat is so much more gentle and not overpowering. The heat radiates from the soapstone for a long time. With my present stove, it heats up quickly, but after an hour or so, it is out of the optimal burn zone, so I am messing with it again. It makes a LOT of ashes also. I get about a pail of ashes every day. My daughter said she cleans her ashes out about once a week. I am sure it uses a lot less wood also because it burns so efficiently. To truly understand the difference of a soapstone stove, it is one of those things that you have to experience for yourself. The stove my daughter has also has lids for cooking.

I agree with you. I was a bit skeptical after years of studying and trying to find a reason to upgrade to this soapstone stove. But only after a month of burning it on and off. It is absolutely the best stove I have ever had. I lit a fire the other morning at 5 am and engaged the catalyst. The large panel of soapstone was still over 130 degrees after 14 hours. Thanks for watching and have a great day.

Hearthstone stoves require temp to be around 800 before bypass is closed. Apple is harder than oak.
@CampbellCabin Жыл бұрын
That’s probably the internal temperature at 800. Which is always twice the temp of the top external temp.

Beautiful wood stove. I just wish they were non-catalytic. I’m running an Enviro insert and I really like their secondary air combustion system. I just want to replace it with a free standing stove because the insert requires electricity to run the fan, which is fine until you lose power.

Thanks, I was feeling the same way against getting a cat stove for years. I burned a jotul f400 and had good luck for 17 years . But studying up on the Woodstock stoves and how efficient and easy to use with well seasoned wood , I made the switch. I can’t wait to start burning this stove in late October. I’m definitely going to do some reviews and share the true results. Thanks again for your comment and watching.

@@CampbellCabin sounds good. I’m very curious to see how you like it. I’m also curious about the service lifespan of the cat. Thanks for sharing your video.

@@MDR-hn2yzJust curious. Why do you prefer one without a catalytic converter? This is my first woodstove and it does take a little getting used to. I'm so glad I got this instead of using the fireplace.
@MDR-hn2yz Жыл бұрын
@@sgg17003 a couple reasons. 1. The catalyst has a life span. At least in the models I have seen. 2. Catalytic stoves can be prone to overheating if you don’t follow the directions. I had an older Vermont Casting catalytic stove and it was a pain to get dialed in. 3. I have had two different secondary air stoves and I really enjoy the simplicity and efficiency of them.
@sgg17003 Жыл бұрын
@@MDR-hn2yz Thanks for the explanation. The other night I was a little worried that I was going to overfire. I did read the instructions, which I normally speed read, and that made me want to check it to ensure it wasn't overheating. It was in the optimal range, but I will definitely keep that in mind and get a better feel of how it heats using the catalytic converter. Thankfully I did my research and chose the Fireview, for one because it is easy to access the catalytic converter. I've read some crazy stories in comments where it was so difficult and expensive to get to it. I read somewhere someone paid $700 to have their stove maintained to get that cleaned. My pockets aren't that deep.

I lived in a small home in the 90's that had one no glass. Two small blots of wood kept the house warm up to 12 hours. Keep in mind it was in Morganton NC not a hrsh wither only 22f for a few days in a row. Then 40

So many woodstove manufacturers claiming their product is the cleanest burning in the world. Silly nonsense. Just the facts, maam...just the facts.

I have this stove along with 2 other stoves. This one burns great all night, the glass stays way way way cleaner then my other stoves.
