I love the square base. This is definitely an enhancement option to "my invention". The reason I say "my invention" is I made my first towel holder in 1984 at BYU. I came up with idea totally on my own. I had not seen any in a store up to that point. About 3 years later they started showing up in stores. I swear someone stole "my invention". I made my first one for a Christmas present for my mother in-law. She has used it for 38 years. I recently had to repair it for her. Fixed it and refinished it. Ready to go another 38 years.

👍 It sounds like you are owed some credit(or money) from the one that stole your idea 🤩 I hope and think this one will last a long time too 👍

I had a mini baseball bat to chip like your spindle did. I was lucky enough to find the broken chip and I TiteBond glued it back in place. With a little more turning and some sanding, the broken piece is non-detectable. Thanks for sharing your video! 👍🏾

I probably should have done that. Problem is my wood glue takes forever to set and I was in to much a hurry to finish 😆 Never tried TiteBond, what is the cure time? Not sure I can get it locally

@@nordicturningTitebond is a brand name for regular wood glue, and you can find it at any hardware store and paint store. Sets in half hour, forty five minutes, cures overnight.

Just a suggestion-A wedged tenon on the dowel would have cut a couple of steps and would be every bit as strong. Just cut a slit on the dowel and then glue/tap in a thin wedge of wood cut on the long grain.
@nordicturning2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t think of that. Thank you for the suggestion. It would be a lot easier, take less wood and be just as strong. Only downside it wouldn’t fit my logo as well 😆

I considered shortening the top but it would be too short then. I’ll try next time to glue. Problem is my wood glue takes hours to cure 😆
