David's Woodturning

Күн бұрын

Stabilised elm burl turned into a hybrid wedding goblet with two captive rings. It was a freshly cut burl/burr but spent 30hrs in the oven to dry out then stabilisation process could begin. Mixed with black and silver resin powder then it was ready for deep pour resin casting and onto the pressure pot to cure. 2 captive rings were added during wood turning and sprayed with lacquer to extra shine.

Watching your videos is a lovely relaxing way to spend some time on a Sunday afternoon, I even wouldn't mind the two hours of sanding 🤣 The goblet is stunning - amazing to watch how you do this and yes, please so show the white goblet version and any other woodturning projects you have on the go - they are all fascinating to watch and with the voice over we get to find out just how long a project like this takes with the sanding and lacquer time too! Do you ever find time to have a rest? 😃👍👀🥇

Thank you so much 🙂 I will get that edited then 😀 I am increasing the the video count for Oct-Dec so more great projects to come. Plus I have a new channel starting soon so stay tuned 😉 Rest?? 😅 Honestly I have not had a day off for years. I love what i do but cannot do anything without bumping into work. Weather is to think on future project, expending the business, replying to comments or learning new things (cnc programming, photoshop, better video edit etc) So it does not really stop but i do go on holidays where i rest my mind a little but people will never notice that as a pre schedule all (most) my contents so the channel keeps going 😀

Thanks for making this video. Imagine the word "fantastic" before it became a cliche, a word that gets used glibly in posts and comments and has lost the depth of its meaning. This is a fantastic piece in the true sense of the word.

Thank you 😀 and yes agree. My wood was too thin for this casting so if I would have made the stem thinner it would have been resin only that part bit wanted to retain more wood. Next time :)

Is it possible to work without this pressure mechanism? I've heard of a resin that gets rid of bubbles on its own🤔 And yes this goblet looks amazing 😍
@DavidsWoodturning
@DavidsWoodturning Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 Of course. So many projects can do without a pressure pot if you have a good resin. Slow cure resin will allow the bubbles to rise to the top so just use a deep pour resin
