love your videos; keep them coming. For those critics that don't like the adds, you can spend $12/mo and not have the adds and the content producers like yourself still get credit. Remember this: "critics always sit in the grandstands and are never in the arena (shop)," focus on the majority of your views that love your work and your effort. I've turned for many years and still learn a great deal from you work and techniques. Thank your!!!

I have said it before, but YOU make the neatest pieces!! I watch quite a few wood turners and they all make the same boring bowl shapes. I have to say that I have never gone through the bottom though, but I have yet to make a bowl, so........We do have a Jet vacuum system, it runs to every tool we have, planer, jointer, drum sander, lathe, table saw, and belt sander. Keep up the great works!!

Very nice, even scrap wood can be turned into something beautiful. Yes I have gone through the bottom as well. I ended up glueing a piece of maple to the bottom.I then poured resin in the bottom and cut a small cross out of paduk and placed it in the bottom. It turned out very nice. Ken

I don't have scrape wood, just small pieces used to make bigger pieces. LOL... I was tired of dust so I got a Laguna dust collector with a 1 micron canister filter. I think we all go through the bottom sometimes, just have to be creative and fix it. Not sure how to put photos here but I will try to send you some. I would be happy for you to see what I do, you are one of my idols. 🙂

That's a great vase, Peggy. Without you telling us or seeing the video, one would not guess it was from scrap. I've been a hobbyist woodworker for many years and I still have a 30+year old basic Jet single inlet D/C. I did, however, make my own cyclone to use ahead of the fan inlet to prevent any big pieces from going through the fan. It works well so I don't have to empty the bag very often. I highly suggest a cyclone for whatever you buy. Take care. Bill

Another great project! Thanks for sharing. I too have gone thorough the bottom of some projects. AKA, joining the “funnel” club! LOL…One project was a small bowl and to recover I cleaned up the bottom and glued some Walnut to the bottom of the Maple bowl. After finish turning, from the inside it reminded me of a compass point. So I began woodburning a decorative compass inside the bowl. It’s still not done yet as I haven’t perfected my fancy lettering yet for the N, S, E, and W letters. Someday I’ll finish it.

Thanks for the video. I appreciate you talking through the steps, showing what grit sandpaper, and products you use. I have yet to start wood turning, but this type of video with instructions gives me a good idea of what it may be like. For dust collection, I use a Ridgid vacuum with the Home Depot bucket (I use two buckets stacked for rigidity) and the Home Depot dust collection “cap” that fits on the buckets. I have a very small shop so I just transfer the 4” hose to any tool I am using and then use for cleanup. It works very well and the total cost was under $100.
