Woodturning - Spalted Beech Carved Vase

Rescuing some rotten and spalted beech fire wood to wood turn into a carved vase. Wanted to keep as live edge project but sadly the bark fell off during turning so after a little improvisation I got my kutzall carving disc to make the magic. Finished with Danish oil to bring the colours out

I see what you mean just wasn’t pleased with it how it turned out after turning so thought texturing will help. Some people like that some doesn’t what I fully appreciate. Thanks for your feedback 👍

This is brilliant David. Love the angle mounted in the lathe to give the final shape to the piece. The extra detailing on the sides is inspired. First impression a sea creature shell. Great stuff. All the best. Ray

Interesting design and finish that makes a character peace. Carving disc looks to be pretty agressive but i like the overall effect and the contrast between inner and outer. A good job, David
