Seems to me you can save some time and wear and tear on you lathe and knives if you would cut each corner off at a 45 about 1 inch deep. That should save you some time on the lathe and wearing out and sharpening your knives for the lathe.

Question Nick .... Why wouldnt you find a manufacturer that can make a round mould that only needs a bottom plate and clamps around the cylindrical portion. Dave you a lot of resin. I just thought of it. If they can mould plexi / acrylic for fish tanks they should be able to make one for resin moulds.
