That's great to hear! It's a bit of a drive but if you're interested you should check out Gulf Coast Woodturners Association. They have monthly demos where you can learn alot. October they have a Woodturners retreat which is 3 days of instructor led classes. Cheapest crash course into woodturning.

@@HodgePodgeWoodWorks I bet. I had a turned a few pieces then a local tree cutting service called me asking if I wanted a few logs. I said sure. He ended up bringing over 7 logs 20-24” across and 7’ long. Got Sweet Gum for days. Lol 😂. Lots of work but well worth it. Lol 😂

One of my favorites to turn just because of how amazing the grain can turn out. It's a bit troublesome at times as it can develop cracks pretty easily as it dries.

Hi Robert, Where does sweet gum grow, I am not sure it grows in Tennessee. Also it looked like you were cutting inside the bowl in reverse. But hard to see on my phone. The bowl looks big and so beautiful you can be proud how it camp out. 👍👍👍
@terriefowler81963 жыл бұрын
If it was being cut on reverse it would have been the other side turning from! Usually done when the opening is small and easier to see/cut from the other side (if n when your machine will allow!)

Thanks Eric, I'd imagine that it can be found it Tennessee. They have those little spiky balls that fall to the ground.
