You should put some big magnets in the middle of each piece and they will be truly floating, without the need of any supports.

You may not have intended, but I looked at those bark-on rounds and thought to myself, hey these give me some great inspiration for resin-filled turning accents with the bark-on outside left intact 😃😃

Interesting. You could do something like this and combine it with some hand forged supports to make a vase

Hey Tim! I had an 💡! If you took a super small drill bit and only made holes through the 2nd and 3rd layers (sections?) big enough to pass a doll making needle and two strands of fishing line through at the same time through, (these come 3 to 7 inches long and super duper skinny) then cut two pieces of fishing line. One length equal to the length of the bottom surface of your top piece to the distance of where you would want the bottom surface of the 2nd piece to stop plus one inch, and another piece equal to the length from the bottom of the 2nd section to where you want the bottom of the third piece to end plus one inch. Then with a staple gun, take the first piece of fishing line and around a half inch from the end of the line staple a it to the bottom of the top section. Take the other end and thread it through the doll needle and pass it through the hole in the 2nd section. Take off needle and staple the line a half inch from the end to the bottom of the 2nd piece. The your 2nd piece of fishing line, measure a half inch from the lines end then staple on that spot on the bottom of the 2nd layer and pass through The holes in the 3rd layer using the dolls needle.. Remove the needle make sure you're half inch from the end And staple where to be farm of the bowl. This would make it so you don't have to drill as many holes and the illusion I really stand out even more if you can't see anything hold me up if you don't. Want to make the bottom on level to where it possibly could rock 2nd 4th you could always. Create a recess somehow on the bottom 3rd piece that the staples would go into so it could be but then you have to Add that depth of the recess To the length of that last piece of fishing line, although i'm sure it wouldn't be very much. Anyway just thought I'd share....hell this might be a stupid idea. But then again, who knows, it might be as cool as I see it in my head. But I figured ii couldnt do any harm to tell you, so if you or anybody else though it would look cool and wanted to try it they could. Plud, I really want to know if it works. 🤣 So, if anybody does try it and it does, LOL...let me know. As always, love your channel Tim and all your projects. Keep them coming. You're my favorite creator on here with the coolest creations!✌️&❤️!

Maybe epoxy some brass rod instead of just the wire, and give it a nice stain (or stains) to put some color in that basswood..?
@woodturningwithtimyoder Жыл бұрын
I had copper, brass and dowel rods ready to use but I misplaced my tenon markers so I went with the wire. If I was off a bit on drilling the holes for the rods or dowels we would have been in trouble 😅I can't wait to really try some different mounting methods and different wood on the next one.
