I’ve watched 20 videos on glazing. This guy has the cleanest lines IMO. He doesn’t go too shallow or too thick. Good angles. Starting in corner and working out. No other video on KZbin says that (that I can tell).

This guy is good. Makes it look so easy. About 25 years ago I did about 24 sashes , I was not nearly as proficient. I got decent by the end . Wish I would have seen this before I did my windows

Glazing old sashes is a nightmare. The old glazing never comes out uniformly. In some places, where the wood is water damaged, the glaze just pops out, but in other places, the glaze is hard and difficult to extract without damaging the rabbet. I’ve tried every tool. Flexible scrapers, heat guns, multi tools, and utility knives. It’s never easy. Especially when you reglaze the windows in place.
@SammyEddieАй бұрын
I struggled too until I just decided to burn a window completely if I needed too with the heat gun, and then things started to click. I was rushing the heat gun. Slow it down and let the heat soften the glaze. Keep going back and forth until it almost falls out.

For removing old glazing and paint a Steam box helps too if you build one and are able to remove the sashes to put in steam box for 30 mins. They have a few diy versions of a steam box if you search or you can buy one. This would be for if you have several windows or more. If just a single them I a totally agree with heat gun as mentioned above

It’s only 20min drywall compound ?? Or is it a mixed with Plâtre de Paris?

He is so right about glazier points . Dummy beginners like me end up using those gigantic points so you have to make a thick putty line . I didn’t like the way it looked so I started clipping part of the points off . They don’t make it easy for a newly to get it right. Use the diamond points even though they have to be ordered
