In this video we showcases the skilled craftsmanship of an elderly woodturner, who transforms a solid red wood block into a magnificent giant vase through the intricate art of woodturning. The woodturner demonstrates his expertise and technique in creating a unique wooden masterpiece. The video shows that working with a large wood lathe is extremely dangerous, to do this safely you must be trained and have long experience working with large wood lathes. We are satisfied with the product we make and hope you will like! Let us know what you think about this product?

That turned out beautiful! But the only thing I could think of watching this video was the lovely red and white non dyed weed free mulch that would be a blessing in my garden beds!

I bought this as a gift for my friend kzbin.infoUgkxcZqgZ8Ynkiz5n_LxIWRlAicuzmz5kCHG who is just starting out in the world of wood work. He loves it!! There is a great section on different wood and what to use for what kind of job and a similar section for tools as well. The projects in it are things you probably would have a go at with clear instructions, pictures, videos and diagrams throughout. Great for a beginner/amateur wood worker.

This looks incredible, but I'm wondering if it would be possible to first saw off some of that wood to leave usable offcuts instead of just turning everything that's not the end product into chips 🤔

I've seen that done with large wooden bowls, where they use a curved tool that cuts out the inside, then use the cutout for a second bowl. Hard to imagine how this could be done with this huge piece of expensive looking wood, but it does seem like a lot of waste. I guess the explanation is "not feasible "

Is not "beautiful", I don't understand how you can cut down a tree to make a vase as huge as it is useless and to put corpses of flowers in it, it's stupid and a worrying symptom of our civilization infected by its consumerism. It's not art because it's reproduced in huge numbers.

I worked for years in mills milling a lot of red wood mahogany and grew super allergic by ingesting too much mahogany dust. The stuff would of liked to of killed me. Sneezing itching and internal reactions too. Birch and maple give me fierce sinus headaches. I liked the jobs though. That's a nice column, good job.
