I built this gate two years ago for a client in Oregon. I begged him to send me some quality pics of the Wood gate finished but all I got was a crappy iphone pic. Oh well the gate was still some of my best work.

No negativity here. This one reminds me why I watch your stuff. I haven't been on the bench in five years and I miss it. Watching your work is a good stand in. Anyone that complains that about a prize is...stupid. Being a part of something bigger than myself is prize enough. Helping someone in need is prize enough. Just being given an opportunity to offer something is prize enough. Can't wait to see that box of chisels open up again. Love that shot by the way. Especially the pause before you opened it. Perfect.

Kudos for the Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Rassiff Amazing Woodwork Blaster (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for woodworking plans without the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my best friend Jordan after many years got excellent success with it.

If people are bitching about the prizes you're giving, eff them. You seem like a fair dude just trying to make it work. I've gotten hours of entertainment from your channel and its gotten me back into a trade that I was trying to leave behind. Keep doing what you're doing and the rest will figure itself out.

It was unfortunately comforting to here you have trouble getting photos from your clients as well. I have been building similar gates all my life and by far the most difficult thing about the process is getting the photos once they are installed. It is one thing having a photo of it sitting against a wall in your shop, but the true beauty comes from the gate sitting in its nature surrounding. Great video! Keep it up

Ben Prowell its with a lot of jobs like this. It seems to be that people want to keep it to them self. I have the same with designing food. Order my own design to make pictures for my self, they just dont want others to get it aswell or order it from you.

I really liked the video. It had a very artistic feel to it especially with the strips of planer shavings fluttering in the wind. Not every video has to be a how-to documentary. Sometimes you have to let the work speak for itself. Mr Samurai - you have an amazing skill - thanks for sharing it with the rest of us.

Ya know Mr. Samurai the gate was beautiful, absolutely! the footage, I liked it. your skill as a craftsman no, an artist is undeniable. But that dance party? you wanna talk about commitment to a craft? honoring ones responsibilities as a father, well that's "kung fu" in it's purest form. no doubt your child will have many memories of sharing time with you in your craft, but brother, times like that "dance party" go to the core of what motivates an artist to become what they are. you keep doin' that and you'll give your children a precious gift. Yeah, yer a good woodworker, but from where i sit, yer a good father too.

I really don't get how people can be so ungrateful (ungateful?), as you mention in the end, and also in a lot of your other videos.. I'm sitting here in Denmark, looking at gorgeous woodwork from around the world almost every day, and that is what inspires me, to pursue some of the same skills. Woodworking here in Denmark tends to revolve more around the money and not about doing things out of passion. Jessie, you do your thing, and don't let those guys get you down. This is just an amazing gate, and I'm sure, in time, that you'll get to build more gates and make even more videos. I usually don't read a lot of comments, but it really bums me out that people can be so impatient and rude, that you (and others) have to defend yourself so often. Get some perspective, 21st century self-centred, unsatisfied "small" people! I'm short on money right now, but when I get a more stable income, or learn to spend the money I have more carefully, I'll support you on Patreon for sure. Heck, if I had the money, I'd fly overseas and pay you to let me sit in the corner and just observe 😅 Enjoy the summer, woodworkers! /Kasper

I have no real design skills, so I won't be entering the contest, I'm just here to watch you build stuff. That said, while I certainly wouldn't complain about the prizes, I think some small item that you made, nothing too crazy, just a small carving or something like that would have been a better choice. You know, someone makes something for you, you make them something, that sort of thing. Anyway, just a thought I had while you were talking about the contest. Keep up with the good work, I'll keep watching.
