In this restoration video I will restore , Made by hobbies Ltd of England, started in the 1895 to produce an extensive range of woodworking pedal power tools
I spotted this in a second-hand store obviously with a lot of things wrong with it but where am I going to find another, Did I pay stupid money for it, yes .
Right into the workshop for a few days for a restoration video ,hope you enjoy.

I have never seen a pedal-powered scroll saw before. Awesome job you did restoring it. It works like a charm, too. Great work, Richard.

I restored my grandfather’s ‘Hobbies Gem’ in 2020- sandblasting would have made the process much easier! I had to resort to buckets of rust remover, lots of wire brushing, and hand sanding! He got his in instalments as a kid in the 30s/40s and used it quite often until the early 90s. Considering how flimsy they seem when in pieces, they make for surprisingly good scroll saws, once you get your pedalling rhythm!

You do great work, my friend. I 100% appreciate you showing people that the same quality and work can be accomplished without having to have all of the expensive machinery. Just a little muscle, finesse and ingenuity. Thank you for sharing your work.
