After waiting for some months, finally I can open up and assemble this amazing Professional drill press that I bought a few months ago. It's time to give it a spot in my new workshop, and I can't wait to show you how I set up this tool.
What's in the Box?.
We start with the sturdy metallic base, essential for a stable setup.
The table with a large clamp and cross slots perfect for a vise.
Other fascinating components include a crank for height adjustment, an axis with tapered ends, and a bunch of handy knobs and levers.
Assembling the amazing drill press.
Follow me step-by-step as I piece together this marvel. From the challenging chuck installation to securing the column and adjusting the rack, I cover it all.
Discover the unique features of this drill press, like the unconventional pulleys inside the belt and pulleys box, and how they change the spin speed of the chuck.
The Nitty-Gritty Details.
I delve into the safety features, such as the auto-shutoff mechanism when the cover is open.
Watch how I mount the head of the drill press. I also talk about the spindle precision.
I show you the easy to adjust the depth stop, essential for making precise drills. I almost forgot to install the protection screen, and I take this opportunity to show the curious screws that cannot be unscrewed with the screwdriver.

I think I'd remove all the shipping grease, chips and debris will stick to that stuff. It's there for rust protection during storage and shipping. Use a good dry lube and that will minimize the junk sticking. I have an old Delta bench top press, yours has features I'd like to have in a small unit.

At the moment I'm not going to remove the grease from the column. Here in Galicia there is a lot of humidity and I think it could start to rust the column unless I continually add lubricant or anti-rust.

7:38 seems you install the rack upside down.

The arbor has a JT2 going into the chuck and a Morse 1 taper going into the spindle. Should not have to tap the arbor into the spindle. I do not recommend it. Clean both with a solvent and slide the arbor it with a bit of speed. If it does not stay you are contamination of some sort. It is possible that that the morse is the wrong angle on the spindle or arbor but that is very unlikely.

Okay, so, there are morse tapers and also Jacobs tapers? Soon I will upload next video where I show how the pulleys work and how I install the chuck. I installed it before I read your comment, so I don't think you're going to like how I install it. Thank you for the comment and for the tips 😀

@@WoodworkingwithDIYtools I could have been more clear and correct. The drill press spindle generally has a morse 2 female taper. The chuck has the shorter female JT1. An arbor with male Morse 2 on one end and JT1 is used to connect the chuck to the spindle. If it has the morse taper generally has the JT1 too. But they can be difficult to remove. Regarding drill presses that use 3 pulleys. Offshore manufacturers have been misaligned the pivot hole for the center pulley arm for a long time. Hole not parallel to the axis of the drill press. It is generally accepted that since belts are forgiving it would be anal retentive to correct this. Yet it is temping.

It has a arbor with 2 tapers. It also has a variable speed pulley. That is better than toy.
