What kind of fertilization program is recommended for these woodies that are cut heavily on each year, such as symphoricarpus, ilex, hydrangeas?

It will depend on your conditions, and the specific plant. We always recommend getting a soil test on the exact place you are planting so you can get an idea of what your soil needs. ~Felicia
