Back in my day we'd call that Hulk/Kate team a "Tentpole".( A prime with supporting pieces.) I haven't played in maybe 15 years or longer but miss it. Great video. Very precise breakdown.

I thought Hulk's power only worked with adjacent Avengers? And you can add the Close Combat Expert bonus if you use Quake at the same time? But I do love that actually narrate the action, other channels merely show the map, and don't even wear microphones, so that the only way you can follow along is if you already are an expert. For a brief example, it's very nice, and I like the Skrull team you chose, very non-traditional.

For that hulk it’s either adjacent characters or if they have the Avengers keyword they can be anywhere! You didn’t use to be able too, but CCE applies on close attacks so you will get the plus to attack, but not damage as it’s changed to 2 regardless. Great video explaining the basics. I have recently started playing Heroclix again, getting used to the recent rules, but I have noticed an interesting thing: we were playing with a few of my old figures, and didn't know how to handle one of the powers, because Pushing Damage has been removed. The power depends on pushing damage, to take effect; how would you handle that situation? Would you just remove that power? If so, it would really nerf the character :-/

Which figure is it you’re talking about? I’ll have a look at the specific power - unfortunately the way the game works does mean some older figures take a hit, but depending on the wording you can always rule different when just playing for fun!

@@WoodyREC It's Green Lantern Corps Sinestro, the power in question is "The End of Willpower, the Beginning of Fear: If Sinestro possesses this power after taking pushing damage, place a fear token on this card. Sinestro modifies his attack value by +1 for each fear token on this card, If Sinestro is healed, remove all fear tokens from this card."

Yeah I think because of how it’s worded it’s difficult to make it work now - if it’s one of your favourite figures and your friends are fine with it you could get creative with a house ruling

I got my figure stands in the mail. They don't hold the figures good at all but they look cool underneath them. I have 4 more stands for Justice League members, thinking about getting Plastic Man, The Atom, Zatanna, and Robin (Dick Grayson). If you had to choose 25 JLA members, who would you pick to display? (Not featured here: alternate grey and black suit Batman)

Late to the party but I do have some questions, since I am thinking about getting into this like tomorrow lol. What does rarity mean, are there blind packs you can buy and it's like getting a pack of Magic the Gathering cards? Where do you think is the best place(s) to get them? How expensive, overall, would you say this hobby is? How much ($) is your average competitive team, super hard to find models not withstanding. Any feedback would be much appreciated. My wife and I play Warhammer and I thought this would be a fun second game for us.

Never too late! Yes there are rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare and Chase) and you could consider it like a Magic booster pack. Depends where your based, Troll and Toad in the US I know of. Competitive teams can vary depending on years, a couple of years ago there was an Avengers team that was a few dollars that did well, and you can get very creative with building. I tend to use teams that are cheaper and can still Top 8 etc events. I’ll be honest though, the top teams atm are silly money, some can run hundreds of dollars, but like I say it can change depending on year and how you build. Hopefully you both enjoy giving it a go, let me know if you need anything 😊

@@WoodyREC Thank you for the reply! I am currently looking at Troll and Toad lol, yea I'm US based. At the moment it seems for worth it for me to hard buy the characters I want. Playing Warhammer, I don't think it's a big ask to spend even $50-60 on a single model. She loves the Ninja Turtles so I was looking to get her those. It seems like there are even more 'universes' that these can come from but I'm struggling to find an easy way to navigate the catalogue. Any suggestions? Also, any recommendations for a starter kit?

That is a very fair point, in comparison to other games it’s about right! Ninja Turtles is a great shout, you can use something like ClixNexus or HcRealms - that has every set releases with every figure, really easy way to search and see what you like! In terms of starter sets there are some Marvel and DC ones coming out soon but if you’re diving in now the Spider-man one we recently had should cover you! That will come with figures for you both, tokens, map and everything you need to start out.

So did pushing damage work like this: if you had used all your actions, you could choose 1 extra action and take a clock of damage in exchange?

When a character received a 2nd action token they would be “pushed” and take a click of damage - unless they had Indomitable or Willpower!

When you get two tokens, aren't most characters supposed to take damage?

You use too, pushing damage is gone now so any character can take a second token!

Important to note: you CAN take pushing damage if you need to. For example, hulk needs to take damage to get good. He can purposely take pushing damage to mitigate the other player ignoring hulk.

So you can target 2 people with a shot, then role, then choose damage? Not choose damage pre roles?

Yes, if your character has two lightning bolts on their base you can target two characters - the roll then applies to both, so you compare attack/defence then if you hit you can choose where you assign damage!

@@WoodyREC I wasn't saying you missed it persay I'm an older player coming back to refresh my memory so I wanted to make sure I remembered correctly. But the instance was around 20:00 Kate bishop's attack on Mr fantastic was two 5's so he should be knocked back then as well 👍

Absolutely - You are quite right, good spot 😊 yes doubles still causes knockback, instead of damage dealt I believe it’s a set 3 squares!

Somebody did point that out, pushback is still a thing on doubles - although there is no pushback damage anymore!

​@Woody [REC] I just bought the wonder woman 80th anniversary edition and one of the figures has push back with +1 damage additional to their hit damage I believe.
