I am Vietnamese people and I would say, you know nothing about Vietnam's history. Maybe you are trying to direct people by complimenting the US in the Vietnam War. That's totally unacceptable! If you just want to create educational content for English learners, don't create dirty content like this to respect Vietnamese people and Vietnamese soldiers (who are called by "VietCong" in your video) fought and sacrificed their lives to protect their country.
@WooEnglish
@WooEnglish 11 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment and for sharing your perspective. We deeply respect the sacrifices of the Vietnamese people and the complexity of Vietnam’s history. The content was created as an educational tool for English learners, aiming to provide a simplified overview of the Vietnam War without compromising its significance. Addressing Key Concerns: 1. Historical Accuracy: The term “Viet Cong” was used widely in historical and academic contexts to refer to forces in South Vietnam aligned with the North. However, we recognize the importance of acknowledging them as soldiers who fought for their country’s sovereignty. 2. Narrative Tone: The story’s goal was not to compliment or justify any side but to present a balanced perspective that helps English learners understand the human and historical impacts of the war. 3. Respect for Sacrifices: We honor the bravery and resilience of all Vietnamese people-soldiers and civilians-who endured immense challenges to protect their nation. Sources: • The Vietnam War: A Concise International History by Mark Atkinson. • The Vietnam War documentary (Ken Burns & Lynn Novick). • Encyclopedic entries (Britannica) on Vietnam War events. We value your feedback and will take it into account to ensure future content reflects cultural and historical sensitivities while maintaining its educational purpose. Our goal is to teach English through meaningful topics, not to distort or disrespect history. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. Wishing you peace and happiness. - The Team

@LuanNguyen-br2nu Thank you for your feedback, LuanNguyen-br2nu. Our goal with this story was to create simplified content for English learners (B1 level) by focusing on the human aspects of the Vietnam War, rather than its complex political dynamics. You’re right to point out that the story doesn’t delve deeply into the broader perspective of Vietnam’s national defense or the heroism of its people. We appreciate this observation and will work on incorporating more balanced views in future content. The story is part of an educational series, and we welcome such feedback to ensure we respect historical accuracy while achieving our learning goals. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts

You have edited and distorted the history of our Vietnam. Firstly, we are a unified country, there is no North or South Vietnam here. The Geneva Agreement of 1954 temporarily divided Vietnam with the 17th parallel as the military assembly line, then held a general election and unified Vietnam in 1954. It was the Americans who sabotaged the Geneva Agreement when they established the Ngo Dinh Diem government in the south to confront the Democratic Republic of Vietnam government in order to permanently divide Vietnam like North Korea and South Korea. But the Americans were wrong because we are Vietnamese, and our war is a war of national defense, a war to protect the nation. In 1965, the US sent troops to invade our Vietnam but failed. At its peak, the US brought more than half a million soldiers to Vietnam, massacred our people in My Lai, and in 1972, after losing all campaigns, the US used B52s to attack the North of our country, destroying Bach Mai Hospital, civilian facilities and residential areas, killing our people. And after failing in the Linebacker I and II campaigns when we, Vietnam, shot down 34 B52s and many other fighter planes, the US had to accept sitting at the negotiating table in Paris and withdrawing its troops from Vietnam in 1973. That is the historical truth. The war of our Vietnamese people was a war of national defense, and the US was the aggressor. The Ngo Dinh Diem government or Nguyen Van Thieu later were all lackeys set up by the US to divide our Vietnam for a long time. That is the undeniable truth. As for our Vietnamese government, Capitalism or Communism, it is our people's choice, not depending on any external force, and today it has proven to the world that the heroic Vietnamese people love peace, want to be friends with all countries in the world and never submit to any enemy, no matter how strong that enemy is. We can fight for 1000 years with the North (China) or more than 100 years (with France and America), but the Vietnamese people will forever be Vietnam. Thank you for being a channel that helps people learn English, but that does not mean you have the right to distort and make listeners misunderstand the history of my country, because the truth will always be the truth. Wish you happiness

Thank you, Mr.Chien1602, for your detailed and thoughtful comment. We deeply respect your commitment to preserving the truth about Vietnam’s history and appreciate the opportunity to address your points. Comparison with the Story 1. Division of Vietnam: The story mentions the temporary division at the 17th parallel per the Geneva Agreement in 1954 and the postponed elections. Your comment adds valuable context about U.S. interference in creating the Ngo Dinh Diem government, a key historical detail. 2. U.S. Involvement: While the story highlights U.S. support for the South and troop deployment in 1965, your detailed account of events like the My Lai Massacre, B52 bombings, and Paris Peace Talks enriches the narrative. 3. Nature of the War: The story portrays the war’s human impact on civilians and soldiers, while you emphasize it as a national defense war against U.S. aggression. Both perspectives are important and complementary. 4. Vietnamese Sovereignty: Your note that the Vietnamese people’s choice of governance is independent and their resilience a source of national pride is a valuable addition, highlighting Vietnam’s remarkable journey. Sources for the Story The story was based on: • The Vietnam War: A Concise International History (Mark Atkinson) • Encyclopedic entries from Britannica • The documentary The Vietnam War (Ken Burns & Lynn Novick) These sources aim to simplify the complex history for learners. Purpose of the Story The primary goal of this story is to help English learners (B1 level) improve their language skills while exploring global history. It is not a comprehensive historical analysis but a simplified, educational narrative designed to inspire curiosity and discussion. Thank you for enriching this conversation with your insight. Your feedback helps us honor historical accuracy while achieving our educational mission. Wishing you all the best! - The Team

That's why today, it's 50 years old, you quit the North Vietnamese communist regime, what can you do for the Vietnamese people? Until today, you look back at the South and Korea, a person's head makes $2,000 dola while a Vietnamese person's head does nothing. $300 dollars, you are a powerful country, out of 10 people, 9 of them want to go to the country, then you should stop, you are being brainwashed by Marxism. You manipulate the vocabulary as an effort to create an impression that the North of Vietnam was willing to maintain the war against the major part of people in the South where the leader is qualified and supported, and therefore, got assistance from US. If US had been good to VN, why did they pour millions of tones of bomb and Agent Orange to Vietnam, killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people, and its remnants influence several Vietnamese generations? If Viet Cong had been hated by majority of people in the South, how could they perform secretly operations in the cities of Southern Vietnam where people fully comprehended the nature of the war with government's armed forces appearing in every meter of streets in order to achieve the final victory? The fact is that Vietnam still has several problems these days. But we are getting better year by year. And the most important is nobody can divide our country, our nation. For thousands of years, our ancestors fought for the territory integrity and we will fight for it. If you do not understand our history well, please study more. If you favor capitalism, do not need to cause misunderstanding about Vietnam and excite hatred to our nation, our government. Look at Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, Ukraine, ..., where people are suffering deaths, hunger, sorrows, pains, ... every day, and stop trying to spoil the peaceful life in Vietnam.

@@amyle3813 Exactly! The author deliberately twisted the facts. After 1945, the entire nation united to fight the French; there was no division between the North and the South. The only interference came from foreign forces, with the U.S. pouring in support to establish a Southern regime aimed at dividing Vietnam to serve American interests. You're now living in the modern world with a lot of advanced technological platforms, multidimensional information and social networks that provide rapid information, which have been developed by western countries and the United States for you being benefited. However, you seem not to be able to unitize them to gain proper insight and knowledge for yourself but still being brainwashed and stuffed with propaganda. Indeed, Vietnam today has developed and improved significantly compared to 70 years ago. This is obvious since it has gone through a long period of 70 years. Surely, after 70 years, it must have developed, right? However, think deeply and ask yourself: What is the main source of Vietnam's development today? Does Vietnam have its own economic strength, or is it still dependent on investments from Western countries and capitalist nations, which many people who are brainwashed in Vietnam hate? What else does Vietnam have to be proud of, aside from a political system that is extremely corrupt and decayed?

You know nothing about Vietnam history! The Causes of the Indochina War (1945-1954) can be summarized into two main phases: I. 1945-1946 Phase (Before the Outbreak of National Resistance): The underlying cause was the return of French colonialism, seeking to restore its dominion in Indochina after World War II. However, the situation in Vietnam at this time was very complex, setting the stage for war: Advantages: The Democratic Republic of Vietnam was established after the August Revolution, with a government in place, a united people, experienced leadership, and support from national liberation movements worldwide. Overlapping Difficulties: Foreign Invasion and Internal Rebellion: Multiple foreign powers (Republic of China, Britain, France, Japan) coexisted on Vietnamese territory, each with its own agenda, causing political instability. Domestic reactionary forces (Viet Quoc, Viet Cach) colluded with foreign powers to oppose the revolutionary government. Economic Devastation: The famine of 1944-1945 had not been overcome, natural disasters occurred continuously, and the national treasury was empty. Cultural and Social Backwardness: Over 90% of the population was illiterate, and social evils were rampant. Nascent Government: It was not internationally recognized and lacked experience in managing the country in a complex situation. To address the situation, the Party and the Government implemented many measures: building the government, resolving famine, illiteracy, and financial difficulties, while also pursuing flexible diplomatic struggles with foreign powers to avoid confronting multiple enemies at the same time (such as the Preliminary Agreement of March 6, 1946, and the Provisional Agreement of September 14, 1946, with France). However, France's ambition for invasion did not change, leading to the next phase. II. 1946-1954 Phase (National Resistance Against France): The direct cause of the nationwide resistance was the increasingly escalating provocative and aggressive actions of France, despite the agreements signed. France's Conspiracy and Actions: France continuously attacked in Southern Vietnam, Central Vietnam, and Northern Vietnam, culminating in an ultimatum demanding the revocation of the Vietnamese government's control of Hanoi. The Party's Resistance Line: In the face of this situation, the Party and President Ho Chi Minh launched a nationwide resistance on December 19, 1946, with a line of people's war, comprehensive, long-term, and self-reliant resistance. The resistance took place fiercely with many important campaigns: Fighting in Cities North of the 16th Parallel: Holding back the enemy, thwarting their "quick fight, quick win" plan. Viet Bac Autumn-Winter Campaign of 1947: Defeating a large-scale French offensive on the Viet Bac base area. Border Autumn-Winter Campaign of 1950: Opening the Vietnam-China border, breaking the encirclement. Strategic Eastern-Spring Offensive of 1953-1954: Defeating the French-American Nava Plan, creating conditions for the Dien Bien Phu victory. Dien Bien Phu Campaign of 1954: Delivering a decisive blow to France's will to invade, forcing France to sign the Geneva Accords, ending the war. In summary, the Indochina War of 1945-1954 stemmed from France's ambition to invade, met with the fierce resistance of the Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh. The complex situation after the August Revolution, with many difficulties and challenges, was also an important factor contributing to the outbreak and prolongation of the war.

Summary of the Causes and Course of the Resistance War Against the United States (1954-1975) I. Causes: Geneva Accords and the Country's Division: The Geneva Accords (1954) temporarily divided Vietnam into two regions with two different political regimes. The North was liberated, following the path of socialism. The South was under the control of the Ngo Dinh Diem regime, backed by the United States. The U.S. Replaced France: France withdrew its troops from the South without holding a general election to unify the two regions. The U.S. stepped in, setting up the Ngo Dinh Diem regime, scheming to permanently divide Vietnam, turning the South into a new-style colony and a military base. The Brutal Policies of the Ngo Dinh Diem Regime: The Diem regime implemented policies of terror, fiercely repressing the revolutionary movement and the people of the South, especially after Law 10-59 (outlawing communists). This intensified the conflict between the people of the South and the government, thúc đẩy cuộc đấu tranh vũ trang (promoting armed struggle). II. Course: The resistance war against the U.S. can be divided into major periods, corresponding to the different war strategies of the U.S.: 1954-1960 Period: Political Struggle Combined with Self-Defense: The people of the South struggled to demand the implementation of the Geneva Accords, resisting the Diem regime's terrorist policies. Revolutionary forces were preserved and developed. 1961-1965 Period: Special Warfare: The U.S. used puppet troops, under the command of U.S. advisors and relying on U.S. weapons and equipment, to fight against revolutionary forces. 1965-1968 Period: Local War: The U.S. directly sent expeditionary troops to the South, conducting "search and destroy" and "pacification" operations, while also expanding the war of destruction to the North. 1969-1973 Period: Vietnamization of the War and Indochinization of the War: The U.S. gradually withdrew troops, strengthened the Saigon army, expanded the war to Cambodia (1970) and Laos (1971), implementing the strategy of "using Vietnamese to fight Vietnamese," "using Indochinese to fight Indochinese." At the same time, the U.S. sought compromise with China and détente with the Soviet Union to isolate Vietnam. January 27, 1973: The Paris Peace Accords on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam were signed. The U.S. withdrew its troops from Vietnam. Outcome: - The Paris Accords (1973) forced the U.S. to withdraw its troops from Vietnam and recognize Vietnam's basic national rights. - 1975: The complete victory of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign liberated the South completely, unifying the country. In summary, the resistance war against the U.S. (1954-1975) was a difficult and heroic struggle of the Vietnamese people against the U.S. imperialist aggression, to gain independence and national reunification. The resistance went through many stages with different war strategies of the U.S., but ultimately ended with the complete victory of Vietnam.

Because the Americans want it that way, they want to impose the political system in any country to follow the American orbit, they support the governments of other countries but sponsor terrorism to control that country's government, and they unilaterally embargo any country that they think is harmful to the interests of the United States. Only when the monopoly of the US dollar is broken and the world becomes multipolar will there be less war. In general, it is all for the benefit of the great powers.
